Not an official dev response, but Reinheart translated something from Famitsu about you only being able to master 1 crafting class.

I guess I won't mind too much if I don't have to shout/wait around for repairs.
Then we'll have to find another type of death penalty.
Complaining about repairs just means you don't play the game. I hate gear durability in RPGs more than most people, but it has become very non-intrusive. The speed at which stuff wears out when you're the appropriate rank/class is way slower than it used to be. On top of that, I can't take 10 steps down the streets of Ul'dah without someone trying to repair my crap for the gil value of the dark matter involved.
It's not a death penalty it's a return after death penalty to presumably prevent zombie'ing. Why can't they just make return a 5 or 10 min Brink of Death and have that be the penalty. I'm gonna make an official thread and see what people think about that fuck it.
edit: Spelling /wrist
I actually just came back to the game a couple of days ago, and didn't notice any change to the repair system, other than that my gear broke. It's nice that they slowed down the wear, although my weapon still broke pretty quickly. Wish I could fix my rings at the NPC though, and no idea what Dark Matter is yet.
EDIT: Also, having to take off gear to get it repaired, sucks balls IMO.
Basically, it's now just a single item that repairs any piece of equipment of a given range. You can find them everywhere (levequests/dungeons/gathering/etc) or just buy them from the vendors.
Grade-1 (rank 1~10): 100g
Grade-2 (rank 11~20): 600g
Grade-3 (rank 21~30): 1500g
Grade-4 (rank 31~40): 2800g
Grade-5 (rank 41~50): 4500g
If you need a repair done for a Rank-30 weapon, offer 1500+ gil, or a Grade-3 Dark matter and stand in Ul'dah for a few minutes. It will get repaired... unless your server is a ghost town. I know Palamecia isn't.
Thanks, that's very nice to know. Not too many people on Saronia that I've seen currently. Is there a main gathering point in the game for people yet (ie Jeuno back in the day), or are people just spread out?
Ul'dah is most definitely the most populated area that I have seen since it's almost right between the two other city-states. Gridania is dead because it's so far out of the way. Limsa Lominsa is slightly less abandoned since it's just a semi-short run west to the ferry, which docks right into town.
Whenever they decide to unlock Ishgard, I would expect it to be more of a center like Jeuno was since the leves and other content nearby will most likely be focused on higher ranks... and Chocobos will probably be around by then.
I feel like "traps" was an odd translation of how they described it a while back as it utilized multiple totems/auras in battle to enfeeble/buff targets within their range/radius. Someone compared it to existing classes in WoW or something, but I don't know what it is exactly.
Also, regarding the map overhaul:
It sounds like we'll get zones where the scenery and terrain type won't be identical throughout. Cue up that one guy's concept of how La Noscea's various areas should look.Specifications are already decided and a sample is already made. Next we need to get into level design and adjustments.
Conceptually, it's type of area once you step in you won't forget it. In each area/zone want to put around 3 themes.
[dev1123] Improvements to the Action Bar and Unit Frames
* The following changes are planned for release in 1.18a.
Both are still in development, and therefore subject to change.
Action bar graphics will be enhanced to improve overall visibility. In addition, player and party unit frames will also be adjusted for the same reason.
Is this part of the "UI changes"? /sigh
Hard to say how they will provide info in the future. They seem to be using the testing subforum a bit more frequently, but they've also done it in the past. It'd be nice if they started letting us know about some of the smaller changes this way. Instead of holding them until the day patch hits.
I think Mocchi was saying something similar to this today.
I saw a post that they are adding Male mithra and female galka with PS3 release, female galka... lol
There's a female Roe in the game now, looks alright, sort of like a Duskwight Elezen with sideburns.
I'm (sadly) holding out for male miqote, I want a character of human size who isn't.. human.. I find Hyurs a bit on the dull side in general. I'm not a massive fan of cat people, but they seem like the best alternative.
Also, Arcanist possibly with Geomancer as it's job sounds pretty awesome to me.
every time male miqo'te is mentioned. i imagine the male miqo'te tanaka pic... ;/
I'm sure though SE will make them look beastly...!
Although, it'll probably look something like a grownup zidane I'd imagine.
