Vikings were fucked up people if that's how they named themselves. Akhmwiadrrhhrhrdf is not an easy name on the eyes or the lips.

What is so hard about Ahldskyf(Aldskeef), and Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn(Merle wib Blehf his win)?
Did you guys just not comprehend the whole "sound it out" thing of grade school?
Bloef = Blehf? How am I supposed to sound that out?
How do they explain Galka in this game? Thought they were reproduced via reincarnation.
Yeah, there's no real explaination to the lack of Roegadyn women or Miqo'te men. In fact, the NPCs that discuss the races and beastmen actually mention their existence. (They are not the same concepts as Galka/Mithra/Elvaan/etc.)
Sea Wolf Roegadyn text: mentions they are often fishermen and fisherwomen in trade.
Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te text: mentions that males reside in Ul'dah, but they must avoid people because he's never even seen one.
Honestly sounds like welsh or celtic to me. Horrible language to draw inspiration from! What was that one hound mob in XI named like? Crw hrrwwnnn or something?
What's with the usage of y's in the naming anyway, it sounds so horrible on my tongue..
Aldenard....pretty cool.
Eorzea...okay I guess.
Hydaelyn....fucking jps
or Hyan
Cwn Annwn
In Welsh mythology and folklore, Cŵn Annwn ( /ˌkuːn ˈænʊn/, "hounds of Annwn") were the spectral hounds of Annwn, the otherworld of Welsh myth. They were associated with a form of the Wild Hunt, presided over by Gwynn ap Nudd (rather than Arawn, king of Annwn in the First Branch of the Mabinogi). Christians came to dub these mythical creatures as "The Hounds of Hell" or "Dogs of Hell" and theorised they were therefore owned by Satan.[1][2] However, the Annwn of medieval Welsh tradition is an otherworldly paradise and not a hell or abode of dead souls.
Idk, I always thought it w as a cool name. Just a bit hard to pronounce without vowel...until you check up how to pronounce it.
I love the look and sound of Welsh with all their crazy Ls, Ws, and Ys... even though it always looks like face-rolling. I could have sworn I had looked up some Roegadyn names in the past and found they were consistent with something from northern Europe besides Welsh. The more I look at them, though, the more it's just looking like made-up Welsh. I guess it's just the apparent boner Final Fantasy writers have for Welsh folklore.
ANYWAYS. What the hell were we talking about?
This is not only proof of her being a Roegadyn, but an official explanation of why some Roegadyn names are facerolled in appearance.

Edit: It's also a very interesting piece of Roegadyn lore. I was quite happy when I seen this since... well... I'm a Roegadyn
Ahhhh-ha! That's pretty neat, actually. It looks like Roegadyn names, much like Bastokan Galka names are Native American in style... translated into fake-Welsh.
Also, I didn't see it mentioned:
I'd have a loreboner for an in-game bestiary, FFXII-style.All the members of the Localization team, myself included, are big lore fans as well, and are constantly looking for ways to sneak juicy tidbits into quests, leves, item descriptions--pretty much anywhere we can. Even so, Eorzea still remains chock-full of awesome back-story that has yet to make its way into in-game or Lodestone text. Ideas such as in-game compendiums, bestiaries, libraries, etc. are great, and I'll be passing those along to Yoshi-P and the rest of the dev team personally. With the current development schedule, I don't know soon features like this might be implemented, if implemented at all, but every step in the right direction counts, and the louder your voice, the more likely it is to be heard.
(yeah yeah not important at the moment)

Guess you never watched the Simpsons.
Alright! More important stuff taken care of~

/display settings made by you are visible on your computer only. For example, if your main hand display is set to off, your gear will still be visible to other players.
/display settings will reset upon logging out.
*For 1.19, we plan to enhance this feature to reflect your /display settings on all other player’s computers. Also, personal /display settings will be saved upon logging out.
I generally don't have a problem with them randomly fixing some minor issue that could have waited, but I never knew this was even a problem for anyone.
