Not bad, but I wish we could remember three gear, ability, and trait loadouts per class. Beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

What is so disheartening for me hearing about this job system is that we still have no idea what jobs are for each class. I am completely unsure about whether to take CON past 35 or work on THM because I do not want to be a white mage in the future. Now, with the jobs not even coming till 1.20 which is probably 3 months away, I am finding myself hampered in my desire to level.
Spoiler: show
Despite Thaumaturge's "dark arts" style backstory... Black Mages have always specialized in elemental magic and that is exactly what Conjurer is about (not to mention specifically offensive and defensive magic). I also recall hearing something about "1 job per class" but in the overall concept of the job system, that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. The job system, to me, seems like "stances" for a class, weakening some abilities while strengthening others depending on what you are needed to do.
Each of the classes should have at least two jobs since they already appear to be conceptual hybrids of existing iconic jobs. The most obvious being PGL=THF/MNK and CON=BLM/WHM.
Yes, but they said they're releasing 1 job for each class right now and already mentioned WHM and BLM I believe? So they pretty much have to go to Con and Thm.
I had only actually heard (and seen) BLM and DRK so far. Anyone know where to find all the details on this?
Yes, they showed the concept arts for what looked like BLM and DRK, but I think they mentioned other jobs in some interview/forum post, but my memory might be failing :<
I'd be happier if they just scrapped the current classes and retooled them into the jobs, rather than trying to layer the jobs on top of the classes. They couldn't reasonably layer BLM on top of THM without making you also have CON leveled, or by moving those abilities from CON to THM (at which point they'd probably have to rewrite most of the lore for the 2 classes - wihch I think they should do anyway and just scrap classes altogether as stated previously).
I'm semi hoping the advanced classes will in someway require some lvling, considering a decent amount of players are now just sitting around at R50 and probably don't want to level other classes.
Hopefully it will be fun to play the new classes too, judging from what I've been seeing on JP boards, the reception on tera is pretty high and has pretty much taken over many FFXI/FFXIV JP blogs (especially the loli race haha)![]()
The path from CON to WHM holds more easily-fulfilled promise (e.g. every cure is AOE again) than the path from CON to BLM; CON has almost all the BLM tools as-is.
THM is going to be RDM, GEO, or SCH (my guess: SCH), and I think that's the better route anyway. This game currently has a gaping hole in support abilities beyond "take less damage".
The rest of the jobs seem to map fairly simply:
GLA -> PLD
MRD -> DRK
PGL - > MNK
LNC -> DRG
ARC -> RNG
Musketeer -> Corsair?
Arcanist -> Red/Blue Mage?
There was a recently translated interview that said they wanted Arcanist to be like Geomancer... I can imagine quite a few people got boners over that.
Had to do a bit of searching around but I found it:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post202006
Apparently it was:
ナイト、モンク、白魔導士、黒魔導
So if there's one job per class, that means that BLM and BRD will be assigned to two of the following three classes:
THM, MRD, ARC
I could believe THM as BLM (or BRD, really, since both are support), but MRD or ARC as either of those jobs is a huge stretch.
ARCH > BRD is a pretty likely choice as discussed when the info first came out.
The people discussing in that thread were ridiculously confused, so I wouldn't really make any conjectures based on their wild-eyed speculations. Even in the thread people are saying that other people are being stupid for suggesting that BRD might spring forth from ARC. I wouldn't get too worked up until SE actually officially posts what they are thinking for the job system. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a train wreck, but even I doubt it would be a "archers become bards!" train wreck.
Considering the existing bard NPC in the game... based on his armor type and throwing knives, Archer > Bard makes the most sense.
Maybe, but any such speculation is based on information that simply isn't available yet - making it speculation based on speculation. I doubt jobs will evolve directly out of a base class (if things stand as is - which they won't). What would be more logical is if you had requirements from different classes in order to get that job (such as having varying amounts of CON and THM to pick up BLM or WHM). But, since they mentioned they are going to change the classes (redistribute abilities, probably other sweeping changes - in an effort to make classes more unique), pretty much any speculation is likely to be moved off the table by the time 1.19 or 1.20 rolls around. They won't even tell us what they're thinking here until 1.19 rolls out.
Edit: I'd agree, however, that ARC > BRD makes the "most" sense, if you were to go that route. I wouldn't ever consider conceding that it made sense, though. What would make sense would be scrapping classes altogether and implementing jobs instead.
