Thanks for the info/links Miokomioko and Rocl. Adding the genders and race isn't a vital addition to the game by any means, but still great to see that they are listening to their fans a bit more.

Semantics. Unless the birds are incredibly fragile, if you're in a situation where you're just trying to run by (on a mount much faster than you are) and your bird gets hit hard enough to die, you're going to be traveling that path shortly thereafter.

To be honest the more I think about it the less I am bothered by the whole chocobo thing. SE has said there were no plans for sneak and invis spells so they had to come up with some way to make exploring dangerous. I think the smarter players are going to stop when they see large clusters of mobs while on a chocobo and say "well... these mobs are level 65 and i'm 50, do I want to risk running the gauntlet here?"

I don't really think they're going to be filling in content to all these off the wall locations of knooks and cranny's until the map revamps come in anyway.

Since you (and others) keep playing the "try another MMO sometime in your life" card, I have a question for you:

In these other games (e.g. WoW) with damageable, non-stealth mounts, do player stealth abilities exist?

Because it seems to me that you are making an incredibly lopsided comparison. Other games have stealth abilities; this one doesn't. So unless you are saying that the very concept of stealth is flawed, it's understandable that people would be disappointed when SE pulls the rug out from under the most consistently prevalent form of stealth in Final Fantasy history (if not the history of all RPGs, period).

So if I understand you correctly, after running away with a (100%?) speed boost didn't work, your solution is... to run away more slowly?

    Hello this is Producer/Director Yoshida.

Since it seems all the recipes from 1~50 are going to be made easier, I thought it might be good to get some opinions from the professional crafters…

I imagine something like the below where the changes will benefit the new crafters and still retain a nice crafting life for the high ranks.

1~20 Recipe Easier than the current situation 21~40 Recipe Same as the current situation 41~50 Recipe Resilient difficulty
Yes, this is the basic idea and I am sorry that I couldn’t explain the fundamental plan in a clearer manner. I will be making a specific post about this next Tuesday late at night, so please take the direction we are taking to mean that we will be adding even more recipes for high ranks which are quite high in difficulty, and will adhere somewhat to reality, yielding craft specific items with high stats. I apologize for the lack of details at the moment.

To put it simply, the road will become wider, but to reach the top, there will be trial-and-error, a degree of difficulty, and resilience required on the part of the crafter. Similar to the battle classes, we are aiming to have end-game style content for crafters and gatherers.

I don't remember having stealth in WoW on classes that weren't Rogue, but I was playing in like 2008, unless you're considering traps and the like as Stealth abilities. Same goes for Rift, only the Rogue calling has access to Stealth abilities.

It's like you don't even play this game... Mobs have a very small agro radius. So yes if you keep running you will get away then call your bird. How the fuck do people run from mobs at the moment? OMG WE DONT HAVE SNEAK AND INVIS WE JUST KILL EVERYTHING.

Only Rogues had stealth and only they had a need for it. Game had trash that was skippable but doing so meant that you were skipping out on a chance at random epics. You know cause trash can have more of a purpose than wasting your time.

Let me try to explain this again, and see if you notice the key component:

If you couldn't run away from it's "very small aggro area" with DOUBLE RUNNING SPEED, why the hell would you think that running MORE SLOWLY would get the job done?

As I already said, unless chocobos are incredibly fragile, if running away was a viable option, it would have worked when you were on the bird!

I also love how your argument presumes that either:

    a) I'm running away from one solitary mob, and once I get past him, it's open skies and fields of grain, or
    b) I can be dismounted in the middle of any cloud of mobs and just run through them like a truck to the end, no problem

Game had trash that was skippable but doing so meant that you were skipping out on a chance at random epics. You know cause trash can have more or a purpose than wasting your time.
Could it? Sure. Does it? No.

Ironic that you bash other people for the other MMOs that they do/don't play, yet you're using "random epic could drop" as an argument against skipping trash. Which game are you talking about, again?

Do you know that mobs don't endlessly chase you to the next zone line?

    Nah dude. They totally do.

Hold on. What mob in this game have you been unable to outrun @50, short of an HNM (which don't actually agro).

Do you even know what you're arguing for? Cause I'm clearly saying that I would like there to be more incentive to killing trash as opposed to skipping it whenever possible. I thought providing an example of another game that does that would make the argument obvious. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case with you.

Spider-dan, have you ever played another mmo in your life? Your tunnel vision is astonishing.

Specific classes have self stealth, but typically, skipping every trash isn't something encouraged by the game design, and can't be done.

I'm just trying to figure out where that tunnel vision is stemming from... is it from being unable to figure out how the knockdown would/when it would work? Lemme learn you something...

Psssst. It's usually after you take a certain percentage of your HP in damage or become dazed (not in this game). I'll let you figure out which one they use.

    Spoiler: show
Pssst. it'll be the former most likely.

So purposely evading mobs and sneaking around doesn't add depth at all to a game? There were plenty of situations in FFXI where this applied and to me it brought about some strategy or required some thinking. Any idiots can run charging in past the mobs until they stopped chasing, it wasn't like that in FFXI. You had to be careful as you walked past them or as you were fighting something not to aggro something else. You had to have an understanding of what aggroed, what it aggroed to and how to avoid it. There was depth in that and idk how you can't see it. Seems like a lot of the trolls in this section are WoW tards.
