Erf? I was specifically referring to the comment about having Chocobos as pack mules.
Clearly Shinebox was trolling and didn't warrant a response.
I didn't know what it even was until I just googled it. Looks like its just the TCP-ACK registry thing? In which case I did that way back for TBC arena in WoW... but can't remember if there was a reformat in between then or not x.x; Went through the registry and dont see the TCPAckFrequency entry, so looking like no.
And this title is going the same way in terms of the lack of communication available. Still no public channels, lackluster passive party/dungeon finder, and multi-language servers. If everything was group content in this game, you'd be hard-pressed to get anything done, or it'd be like XI and you'd cross your fingers someone in Ul'dah heard your shout. Just awful.
Yeah it edits TCPAckFrequency. It makes it so your computer confirms the arrival of the packet as soon as it gets it in order to keep information flowing smoother/faster. Instead of the normal way of doing things which is to receive two packets then confirm.
I remember when I first used it in WoW was averaging about 160-200ms then the norm became 40-60 after installing.
huh, just installed that Leatrix thing. Wonder if it will help more than hurt? My computer is pretty beefy, so I hope not.
You'll take an FPS hit but if your computer is beefy the benefits far outweigh the cons. In most other games that is... lol
Let us know if it helps. I've been playing with it install this entire time so not sure what it's like without it. Probably not that big of a difference in XIV.
This would be a moving, poignant response if YOU were not complaining about one-hit kills (direct quote: " I sure love to have no chance to survive") earlier in this very thread!
Removing ranged attacks will not magically make mobs hit softer. Once again, if they can hit your chocobo, they can hit you. And there is nothing in any of these updates that indicates that oneshots will somehow be removed along with mob ranged.
If you seriously believe that, when knocked off of your bird, you will have time to take any meaningful action before the mob can take a single swing at you, you're hopelessly naive.
I should also point out that in my very first post on this subject, I qualified my position with the statement "unless the birds are incredibly fragile." If your birds can be easily taken down by same-level trash, you probably won't die every time you get knocked off, because the rate of knockoff will have skyrocketed.
Gdit he's still on that Chocobo gd topic.
That's more a problem with your linkshell. Find yourself a decent bunch who set aside event time for shit like that every week. Most likely you were in a hardcore LS who demanded you camp HNMs 24/7. It's best to have some balance. Admittedly CoP was part of the reason I quit XI, my LS just wasn't organised enough to help people.
This bullshit of being able to solo missions as a fucking botanist needs to go however. Almost all hardcore crafters and gatherers think it's retarded. But this game was released trying to cater to everyone which resulted in a lot of suck. It was only a couple of months ago that I got round to beating the rank 47 mission, despite being high enough to progress that far since last year. That says a lot. That mission does have a nice cutscene but the mission itself is boring, just like the rest.
Story content has always required a party in FF games and has been getting progressively more challenging in the single player games in recent titles. I don't see why anyone should expect easy solo shite with no fighting.
A million, billion times this. Every mission is so pathetically easy, I can't figure out why I bother myself to do any of them. "Hay guys, let's parley the boss to death!" Woot? Because parley is so fun, yeah?
CoP is the only mission chain I remember particularly well, mostly because I beat every mission 20-50 times at a minimum, 50% or more of those times before they did even their first nerfs to it. I think it's funny that they've apparently gone back and nerfed every mission a dozen or so times, to the point where it's no longer particularly painful to do them all (though, perhaps they were mostly painful because I had to redo them in order to help other people get them completed). I do think they were perhaps too difficult, but they weren't impossible. I'll take "retarded hard" over "pushover easy" any day of the week. Original CoP hard wouldn't make me quit a game, but the current degree of "mission difficulty" sure will (again) if they don't change that to something that vaguely resembles something requiring strategy or thought.
There are plenty of places to implement challenge in the game outside of missions that advance the storyline.
You shouldn't need to shout for a group for hours (or join a mission LS) just to see the tiny bit of actual story that an FF MMO has to offer. Main Scenario quests are the one thing, above all else, that should be as lowest-common-denominator as possible.
There should be a sense of accomplishment in more than just obtaining drops. Actually challenging missions that granted new area access was some of the most satisfying days of FFXI. I am one of those people that yearn for the early days of CoP. They most definitely should not be the lowest common denominator... that title goes to maxing out your levels/merits/etc.
Or give incentive to do missions again once already beaten so that people won't have to shout for hours on end. I think they difficulty for missions should be enough for a party to handle. Being able to solo every mission is retarded and doesn't fit a FF game at all.
I guess they should have made an MMO just to be able to think up ways how it can be turned into resembling single player FF's as accurately as possible.
Really? You know what I meant, they had more than one character. While many were soloable with one character with single character challenges, the main story had multiple characters.
A MMO is massive MULTIPLAYER online game, not a solo game. It is a FF game that is a part of the series, so tradition is important otherwise they should have named this something else.I guess they should have made an MMO just to be able to think up ways how it can be turned into resembling single player FF's as accurately as possible.
Flashbacks, oh god help me.
the one time race change sounds great but personally, 14 isn't even worth the time or the effort at this point, hasn't it been over a yr since its release? every time I open this thread its like a baby crying for its bottle of milk, patch 1.8 was a let down, I doubt 1.9 will be any different.
