Just because you're maximizing doesn't mean everyone else is. This just says if you wanna do this content you better be well geared for it. It also keeps old end-game content from going unused because as more people keep playing more people will need to progress and go through the motions.

Who gives a shit what everyone else is doing, especially those who aren't even hardcore? This just says if you wanna do the content fuck you because you're not one of the big boys, clear the last content before moving on (because you can't just let everyone have at it, amirite? That's unheard of!)

Most people agree that they don't want gear to become obsolete as fast as it does in other MMO's. If gear stays relevant longer old content won't become unused as fast either.

Nay, that was Aion/Rift/WAR/AoC/XIV.

I'm sorry that I've seen such good design/mechanics/balances from other games that I expect this game to step up to it.

If well balanced this is something that makes end-game much better. Just ask anyone playing WoW.

I'd rather see a merit-based (as in meripo) progression than a gear-based progression. It's bad enough hoping for a piece of gear to drop when it's merely something you want to improve your leetness; being stuck at one level of progression while you wait for a piece of gear you literally need to move on is not an improvement.

Just because you got used to it in WoW, that doesn't make it a good idea. I suppose next, you're going to defend the idea of the best gear in the game being reduced to the status of worse-than-AH every time a new expansion comes out?

ps. i play many MMO's. I played them before XI and will play them after XIV is long dead. Don't try and act like i'm white knighting this game. The 40 minute demo, I had with guild wars 2, has already surpassed everything I have played in 14 for over a year. Also my comment was simply about the gear thing. Simply stating that there are alternatives that are just as fun and challenging without having the game be about gear stats.

and as far as the mmorpg genre being over, I greatly doubt that.

Good about the Accuracy boost, hopefully its where it should be. Accuracy was terrible, hope they continue to adjust it and I like gear playing a bigger role.

Only thing I wish they went in more detail with was the ratio. Will 2 DEX = 1 ACC again? Or something like that?

EDIT: Guess it won't be hard to find out now since things like accuracy are no longer hidden.

I started replaying a month ago and the way you target and cast spells is really annoying when your trying to switch targets or if you need to heal someone else in the middle of nuking. It has nothing to do with wanting the game to be other MMOs when people say that.

Edit: Yeah, they're working on it, but shit, you think that'll stop people from complaining or having a right to complain? There are companies with fully-functioning, high-quality products that still receive tons of complaints, and rightfully so. Its a consumer's right to complain, especially when they see room for improvement.

There will be plenty of time to praise all the wonderful that's coming... when it actually arrives.

True that, but then there is also there difference between "Comments from the devs" thread, and "Complaint" thread. I still think he has a valid point whether you are trolling or not. We all know XIV has a long way to go. Will it make it or not.. who knows, does it need to be repeated in every single thread?

Don't include me in the trolling department. Its not trolling to say that the current UI is garbage, no matter how many times Yoshi talks about revamping it. The reason the UI is terrible (for PC) is because its made for console and resembles a console-based UI in essentially every sense.

Could it all go into the complaints thread? Sure, but then you'd have to weed out every negative remark about every dev comment as well. Every time.
