Let me go make a new character, so that I am able to re-enjoy the content I have already done.

This is what I'm saying. Right now, the R50 content in the game is incomplete and the people posting to these forums have done it as it has been released. When the game is relaunched, and R50 content consists of HNM and (more) instanced dungeons and primal battles and hamlet defense and whatever else, what the hell will it matter if one instanced dungeon's boss happens to favor ARC?
It's ridiculous to balance the game around the last event that was released.
And it's even more likely that at that time, one instanced dungeons boss may favor ARC, but nobody will do it as one... because Monk, Dragoon, and Dark Knight(?) outdamage it by such a large margin, and the encounter will be rebalanced with the Jobs in mind.
Now, if ARC isn't Bard and becomes a Ranger or w/e, then perhaps things will be different.
I wonder if ARC will be changed considerably because of its (supposed) Bard job. Now, if ARC isn't Bard and becomes a Ranger or w/e, then perhaps things will be different.
If Bard will stick to its classical support job concept, it'd be odd to have its "base class" as a plain DD : it'd force those who enjoy support roles to grind 50 levels of a DD, and give those who like ranged damages a job specialization they don't asked for, while other DDs would get juicy things like Dark Knight and Dragoon.
So maybe ARC will be changed to something with mechanics close to FFXI Corsair? Guess we'll see about it.
Colored names for items based on rarity. Oh dear, can't wait to see the official forums.
I just think its going to always be a limitation of the system of how encounters will play out if they don't get out of the trend where mobs spamming tp moves = the whole challenge of any given fight or lets throw more adds in. I just fail to see anything changing when the challenge is "whelp mob is @ 20% its going to spam 5 times the tp moves than it did over the first 80% of its health because it now has auto-tp regain" Which every single HNM basically did in FFXI, lower the health, the more tp moves it spammed which was a really lame way to challenge players.
I get this is their first major raid content and this should not be how we should judge future content but if SE's track record is any indication, we will probably see more of the same until they get fancy with their encounters which will force more diverse setups. SE has never proven to me that they can deliver balance to their MMO, XI is and continues to be the most unbalanced MMO i've ever played and 14 has picked up the same trends we saw and continue to see in XI.
I hope that when they introduce jobs, they all add a unique spin to combat and all will be wanted while adding diversity to group content but the skeptic in me after years of FFXI says only a few jobs will be worthwhile and everything else gets shunned like we saw in XI leaving the entire system to end up being less than desired.
I probably will never stop beating this drum around here until SE proves me wrong, they have yet to do it.
Somebody explain to me what's the point?
it's their way of modernizing their mmo without any apparent measuring stick for what "rarity" really means other than what they personally think.
So basically it's like every other unexplained thing SE implements. this is my surprised face. ( - . -)
Why must we have a visual cue of what is rare and what is not?
Why does it have to be measured?
To differentiate items based on how rare they think they are. It was already done on sites like YG and ZAM - I figured it was only a matter of time before it was put ingame.
This helps the economy believe it or not since people will have something to go on when pricing items.
Maybe it's to aid the materia system too? By separating items into tiers like that, it'd be easier to tell whether you can get crappy or good materia from a given item. Assuming materia quality is tied to item quality/rarity.
Or maybe Yoshida just likes teh purplez.
If you can't see it's purpose then theres really no point in explaining it because you've already made up your mind.
Well, if asking for its purpose is the wrong kind of question to ask... It's hard not to make up my mind on its usefulness, honestly speaking.
I posted it's purpose a few posts up. There's other uses besides those I mentioned though.
Yeah I saw it, we would take care of it ourselves in a day or two either way. It hasn't been exactly a problem that needs to be solved.
At a glance is easier than math it out.
How do you know if 43 defense on a Rank 20 item is indicative of a meh quality item or a rare item? Oh look it's blue! I now know that most items with 43 defense and are rank 20 in this slot are rare, and it is much more likely that other items will have lower than 43 defense in this slot. I will price my item accordingly and keep in mind that I should not see an item of this quality as often as I see one of lower quality.
