Um, actually, it was. Could you figure out something for a COR to do at 75? Sure. But outside of meripo (or min/maxing a zerg), there's no event that someone is going to demand COR for. That's not "great design;" it's just, "Oh, you want to come on COR? Sure, if you want." Non-meripo COR was, at best, unobjectionable.

The balance worked in that COR would have been useless without Corsair's Roll but was irreplaceable with it. And meripo was important enough to make COR a "well-balanced" job.

It seems that the next letter will be released right before 1.19. Hopefully that means that it's actually on schedule.

Makes sense, Yoshida said that was when he was going to talk about classes and their roles. Then decide what else to do in 1.20 after he gets feedback.

I think those are separate (like the vid that's coming pre-1.19). He makes it sound like his next letter will be worthless fluff about his vision and what he thinks about current gen MMO's.

It seems a 3rd survey is on it's way too.

The 1.19 update will focus particularly on improving the repairs via NPCs.
    1. NPC "repair" and an NPC "merchant" is now at each éthérite / village.
    2. When an NPC to repair an object, its level of sustainability will be awarded to 99.
    3. Only the craftsmen can be traced back to 100 sustainability.
    4. The price of repairs to the NPC will be greatly scaled down:
(The price will be fixed depending on the level of the object, gil/500 100 gil / gil 1000 / 2100 Gil / 5000 gil)
    5. The price of dark matter will also be reduced:
    (Grade I / II / III / IV / V = 50 gil/300 gil/700 gil / 500gil 1 / 3 500gil)
    6. The statistics of the objects will be affected as follows:
    - No loss if sustainability is between 1 and 100.
    - If the durability reaches 0, then the object will be "broken" and the bonus provided by this object will be 0.
    - If sustainability is 10 or less then an icon (yellow) will appear and warn the player that the object was soon broken.
    - If an object with 0 durability features, while an icon (red) will be present.

That's about it regarding the update 1.19. I'll let you know if something new by then.

    In summary:

    - The boundaries between functional and broken equipment are clearly defined, it will not be necessary to make repairs to items damaged in half.
    - The price of the repairs via NPC will be reasonable and it will be possible only possible up to 99 sustainability.
    - If an object wants to go second hand into the economy, then it must absolutely be repaired by a craftsman.
    - The price of dark matter will be lowered.

Why reduce dark matter price? It was already dirt cheap...

Wow, some of that is lame.

Now, crafters will only be needed for repairing shit you want to sell/trade. So much for repairs making any crafter a decent little chunk of change.

Wow, glad to see they're removing practically all of the complaints and issues I had/saw with the repair and durability system they had in place. I was beginning to think they'd leave it as is for the most part after the last round of changes.

The entire spiel about crafters being the main source of repairs felt forced, intrusive, and hamfisted. There are many better ways to keep crafting relevant and profitable, and hopefully the Materia system will be one of them.

So let me get this straight, "damaged" is going from 35% to 15% and "badly damaged" is going from 15% to 0%?

I like it. Fuck craftsman repairs. Shit is so annoying and the main reason I don't repair my equipment. NPCs prices are currently way too high. Costs me about 200k to fix all my items to 75.

Vuitton, it wouldn't make sense to lower the price of NPC repairs to the levels stated and keep current Dark Matter prices. Craftsman repairs should be cheaper because 1. It requires an item. 2. Repairs to full. 3. It should be cheaper than NPC repair.

Materia accomplishes the same thing really, so I have no problems with this.

I wonder how much he'd lurk&post those wall o' texts of his on the forums if he wasn't so damn busy all the time. It's hilarious. But I would too if I had community reps following me and translating my every statement!

Goddamn, that's a dream job if there is any. Posting "my feelings about MMO's" all day long and getting 100+ thumbs up each time plus the megasalary.

With the changes to gear durability (1% and higher is fully-functional), I think up to 75% repair from NPC is a fine trade-off for not getting a crafter to do it. Dropping NPC/dark-matter prices would have fixed things in my opinion.

It's so stupid easy to find crafters to repair your shit that I don't really understand complaints with the existing system other than NPC costs were too high.

If the durability reaches 0, then the object will be "broken" and the bonus provided by this object will be 0.
What does this mean exactly? Is the "bonus" stats on the item excluding defense, or does that include defense? How would this work with weapons? I take it a broken weapon won't go from 50 dmg to 0 dmg.

Crafters don't really make money from repair anymore because most people just offers dark matter as reward, basically making nothing.

From my experience, it's about half/half, so it definitely is profitable to do repairs since people generally offer gil in increments of 1,000. Most Lv.50 item repairs that I see offer about 8,000~10,000 gil a pop when they aren't Dark Matter. Also, from the fact that I am often running out of various Dark Matter from repairing my own crap, I'm actually saving the money I would have spent on Dark Matter every time I do a repair and save the materials in the process.

I just didn't see a problem whatsoever outside the NPC repairs costing way too much. Most complaints about getting shit repaired meant to me that said people were either cheap asses, have no friends/linkshell, or play on the deadest server around.

I've never repaired someone else's stuff unless the reward was at least double the value of the dark matter needed.

That said, even if the reward is satisfactory it's usually just not worth the annoyance of changing jobs, doing the fix, then changing back and resetting traits for such a minute profit.

Not really liking Yoshida's views of endgame. Dumbing down content for casuals once new stuff comes, then more god awful drop rates? Meh...

It's pretty obvious considering the nonexistent cooldown timer on the instances. Nothing stopping the harrrrrrrrdcore aside from drop rates.

Dunno what "low drop rates" actually mean, but so far so good.

Well if it's anything like XI's then I'm not touching this game with a 25 foot pole. Last thing I want to do is do the same thing for about a month until the mob decides to drop something.
