Those people are fucking crybaby jackasses. I keep my fingers crossed they are eaten by the zombies early.

I dont know wtf those people are smoking, it's like 130 dislikes vs 20 likes for changing endgame every 3 months.
XI programmed them good I guess? I don't see why anyone would favor having pretty much the best gear added in the Zilart/CoP era and everything after that pretty much being sidegrades.
Ugh, ya. Like, I got all the peen gear in XI, but I sure as hell don't want anything like that again. New players, or even people new to endgame, end up making your LS go back and redo age old content to help get them ancient drops that are still > damn near everything.
It's turrible.
I'd like to see gear get replaced every 3 months, however I'd like to see people work their way up. You have start @ tier 1 and move up to tier 5 over time. It would give new players a lot of content to experience as opposed to old content becoming completely useless.
Old gear should always be < New.
God forbid XIV be somewhere in between and have better gear show up once or twice a year rather than every 3 months or 5 years, amirite
I'm sure there will be some gear that lasts longer than 3 months. I can't see them going out of their way to make unique class specific gear or relic weapons for example just to make them obsolete in the next patch. I am getting a bit pissed off that Crab Bow has been the best bow for a year now. I'm thinking they've held back on new recipes all this time due to the new crafting system.
It's like nobody there realizes that's the entire point of the proposed Materia system, and why it's made from used gear.
I'd much rather chase a new carrot every 3 months than chase the same one for 4 years.
You're assuming too much.
Given the option of both, I'd choose the former, but I'm not some crazy idealist that thinks SE can successfully make a happy medium.
Black and white? You're implying that it's 3 months vs 4 years in every situation, it could be 6 months or even yearly cycles.
There are plenty of people that want new gear/items to come out frequently to keep interest in a game. Once you've collected the items from the current endgame, what do people do with 4 years of no new items? That's saying hey in 4 years come back and give us money again when there is something new for you to do. You want people constantly interested in your game and playing to keep getting monthly subs.
What would be the problem with just progressing gear with each expansion? Not too often, not too rare, and makes each expansion of content that much more significant.
Doing it with every notable content patch within a given expansion, regardless of timeline, seems just as much of a waste to me as waiting for the several years XI took.
Three months is just too soon. So it's no surprise people voted no for it.
If the options they gave were 3 months vs. 4/5 years, I could see everyone's point. But if you say "Do you want your shit to be obsolete in 90 days?" don't be surprised when more people than not say "uhh...nah".
FFXI had a good system in place imo, still gave the old events relevancy and people still did the new crap. That way you have a large variety of things you can do. When SE introducted Abyssea that obviously messed that variety up quite a bit though.
XI had a horrid system, almost everything was a sidegrade/+1 until abyssea.
Level caps should have accompanied each expansion with new content appropriate for that level, rather than the arbitrary 5 level limit break quest every few months as they did in the game's youth.
