When patch is over this is the new power leveling method:

    1. PT of same level range.
    2. GLA with gear and full buffs (same range) gets the mobs together.
    3. Outside CNJ kills.
    4. Rinse and repeat.

Albeit some minor inconveniences - same shit is the same. Right back to work.

And really we don't even know how big the nerf will be. It may be reasonable to keep doing it like we are, just at a less extreme rate than how it is now.

If this works as well as it sounds and the forum crying continues (it will), I can see them making it so groups of enemies give less exp when killed simultaneously, with the penalty getting bigger as more mobs die at the same time (or something along those lines).

Either way, I doubt Square-Enix can get a fix ready before 1.20, so we can probably get all our classes to 50 just fine.

Neither. Jobs are after 1.20 and no word on level cap.

I haven't had a chance to test the new PLing since I can't freakin stay logged in for more than 1 min without d/cing. Least the 10-20 min lockout is fixed.

Lol, I didn't complain about the PLing, infact, i wish they would have left it in.

Honestly, I quit this attrocious game back like 2 weeks after the regular edition launch, because let's face it, the game was fucking crap. However, I would log back in every once and awhile for the next couple of months (mainly after patches) just too see what was happening, but then i deployed and was away for 9 months. came back, and re-installed, and now i'm repeating the same thing, but honestly now my highest job is 23GLD after yesterdays PLing. Here's the thing. I can honestly say that this game MIGHT, i mean MIGHT get 5-10 new players a month, and honestly probably loses about the same, so honestly it's staying around dead even.

Nothing that SE does, be it "Hey new accounts start at level 40!!!" or "hey haven't logged in in a while? well here's a level for ever 3 days you didn't log in to distribute to which ever job class you'd like" is going to bring new people into this game. and to make this game profitable, they have to do this.

Now can anyone on these forums, with all the dev comments, and the current state of the game, and how much/little the game has changed in the past year, see them re-leasing this game on PS3 in the next year, and definetly not without a full reset? it would put a final nail in the coffin of this atrocious game. (which would probably be a good thing for everyone involved, be they want to admit that or not)

See that company knows it's got these players that are currently playing. It's figured out that as much as the FF series had a fanbase, the vast majority of those fans didn't love it enough to deal with a bullshit half assed game with the name slapped on, but that there would be a minority that would persevere because they loved FF.
If they have any fucking bussiness sense, along with respect to the folks who's imagination is fueling the story's and art and music, they would wipe the game 6-12 months before PS3 release, close the servers to everyone, effectively taking the game down, re-release PC and PS3 (or PS4??) at the same time, and completely re-boot everything. this is one of your options.

alternatively, they could continue along this path of patch, then fix. patch, then fix. patch, then fix. all the while gaining little to no new subscribers and losing more and more, all the while making no monthly revenue because the game isn't to a pay to play state. Given enough time, the 5-10 thousand players that stuck it out through all this, might end up with a game that's actually enjoyable to play and they can bond with, however, the game falls into a rut because most MMO players don't want to jump into a game that's been going for over 2 years. so you got 5-10k worth of players that your running the game for and that's bringing in what ? 130k a month? hell we'll double that so 260k? that's not profitable to keep the game running/development making new content...

I could be completely wrong, maybe there's still 200-300k folks still playing every day, but i highly god damn doubt it.

Seriously it's either keep the die hard happy, and game dies 2-3 years down the line, or piss off the die hards (90% of which will still play after a re-boot, being die-hards and all) and re-boot the entire game for PS3 launch and potentially create a successful situation out of the whole ordeal or cause the game to officially die within 3-9 months.

Atleast if it died in 3-9months off of their gamble, they can move the fuck onto something else and HOPE FUCKING LEE they learned from their idiotic mistake.

Yes, they should wipe this game before retail. I mean, look at FFXI: with all the huge gil imbalances due to gil exploits (e.g. ingot NPCing when desynth was released), surely they wiped the servers for an even playing field before the NA and EU release, right? Right?

Well, OK, setting gil aside... certainly they wiped the servers because of the huge power imbalance between JP linkshells and startup NA/EU players, didn't they?

You are crazy if you think that the amount of gil currently in the market is not entirely by design; they could have cut off the giltorrent from leves at any time. When the game goes retail (for real, this time), it will be greatly helped by having a fully-functioning economy with established crafters and gatherers already in place, exactly as the gaijin FFXI releases were.

Why would SE undo 13+ months of work getting the economy on its feet (via F2P accounts, mind you) just so newbies can feel less new? What does it matter to a PS3 player that several months before he bought the game, powerleveling was really easy for a couple of weeks? What possible difference does that make?

Or, if you want an even better solution, they should completely trash FFXIV, drop PS2 support for FFXI and completely redo the graphics for it into FFXIV style. Then create a new expansion, advertise the game and bam! Success.

If they do a full wipe in FFXI, sure. No new player wants to play a game where everyone has everything already as our good friend shepardG said right?

    Am I doing this right?

I get this nagging suspicion that a lot of people on the boards, including myself, don't want to play FFXI-2.

1% of the population controls 99% of the wealth? I personally think that's Bullshit, but hey, i guess that's how america works so it's probably the best way to be right?

I mean you pit the lower class vs. the upper class and that's free market economy right?

Thing is, and one of the reasons that WoW and very few other MMO's continue to gain/maintain their higher number of subscribers is that their economy has relatively little reliance on having an established market base, because their market base can be built from the ground up in a much shorter time than XIV's. If the entire economy can be built in a month, someone coming into the economy 2 years later can get to the same level as everyone else within a months time frame, thereby, leaving behind that 99% and becoming part of the 1% ... which in this case wouldn't be 1% at all, since so many people are there.

But that's just one aspect of my little rant. Honestly what does a reboot stand to gain and what does it stand to lose?

I would play FFXI - 2, however, I would still want FFXIV to exist and provide the same amount of entertainment (or atleast comparable as i have aged, and can no longer pull all nighter colibri bird parties for merits ><)

I don't care if they reset existing servers but I've said before and maintain that the only way I will ever get back into this game is if they make new servers at PS3 launch which existing characters cannot transfer onto.
