He is correct, but it seems he's implying that because of that 2.0 PC won't use DirectX 10/11? I'm not even sure what was his point. It's not like multiplatform games are OpenGL on PC ^^;

It was just my opinion of the direction. I'm not into programming, I'm in psychology >.>
Hehe.
Interesting write up: http://www.dualshockers.com/2011/10/...to-the-future/
Sums up my feelings about the whole thing.I, for one, will always hold a lot of respect for Naoki Yoshida and the team he leads. He willingly stepped on a sinking ship that could easily compromise his whole career, led the sailors into patching most of the holes, and steered it towards a stormy but potentially successful route. I think that crew deserves support, and I feel that they have what it takes to return the favor by giving us a great game to play.
Pretty funny to think about 1.18 and 1.19 being smaller projects to do on the side. Tip of a goddamn iceberg.
WTB 2.0 patch notes
Let's be honest, if they just kept adding patches like those nice as they are game would've never recovered. Content would been digested faster than they could make it. It would be just patch > week of fun for people > log out wait for next.
Cool stuff in that article but the author could've tried to hide his bias a bit better. I liked what he had to say about the engine so far tho.
I promise to upgrade my PC if the end result looks like the pic.
I really don't know why you care so much about gil. I have over 400mil and I don't spend any of it. So how does that gil affect you? The richest players tend to spend the least. It's the people with 10-50mil that don't mind paying 5-10mil for items. I still think twice at items over 100k if I can craft it myself. And goddamn I wish people would stop selling boar hides at 16-20k. FFXIV is a high number economy, anyone can go out there and make millions in a relatively short period of time because millions aren't much.
Yep, nice article. "Yoshida" + "unlimited funds" = bright future for FFXIV.
Speaking of FFXIV and other MMOs, have another other MMO pulled off the whole job changing thing successfully? Apparently Rift has?
What other MMOs?
That's probably one of the major things the FF11 and FF14 has over others - you just need one character and have multiple jobs/classes. Another bonus is it being one of the few MMOs on consoles.
Really do hope to see FFXIV succeed in the future. Make this Sony guy happy Yoshida >.>. (Was bored yesterday and digged around and watched E3 conferences involving SE.)
Nope. The dude has a rather realistic point of view on gaming and game development, and doesn't let himself be swayed by vindictive feelings coming out of thinking that a developer/publisher somewhat slighted him personally for delivering an incomplete product and then doing everything in their power to correct that mistake.
If you think "eat" anything coming from SE, you should hear my opinion on Final Fantasy XII's story.
Age of Conan changed things for the better quite radically after the botched launch. Took them three years, but they got there. EVE Online also launched in a quite disastrous state, but they've been helped a lot by the fact that they didn't have any competition.
