just PL one and skip the 2nd... it doesn't even take *that* long to level up a lowbie solo. It's not lightening fast 20 levels in 1-2 days fast, but it's not exactly 2 weeks either. It's like, what? 3 or 4 days at most. Oh lord help meh!

(not that it can't be improved, but acting like it's "omg i need a PL to make it worthwhile" is a joke.)

Wait, he wants to have his lower classes PL'd... which he can't do all by himself. He wants to create a 2nd account, PL it to the point where he can PL any of his lower classes with it. You know, create a PL mule.

I'm not sure if you can do what he wants to do by "just PL one."

My main point is that it's a little odd that making a second account and powerleveling myself using that account is faster than the way the game is designed to work. Has nothing to do with "behind", but I don't like that there's a trick of a way to level so much faster than just playing the game.

I think that if theyre OK with PL in general they'd be okay if you buy another account and be your own PL.

I think a better question is: Which games have a PLing system so good that it makes normal leveling feel worthless?

It's not about PLing being "better", it's about exactly how good and how convenient it is against other options. If it's too good/convenient, it stops simply being a system to help people catch up with friends... it becomes something more. It becomes the way to level, as shown by this game and FFXI-Abyssea.

I don't think the PL system itself is entirely to blame for what it's created, however. Perhaps if the normal leveling system was more convenient (not having to buy so many different pieces of gear for your low level classes, solo chains on lower mobs, exp not getting so gimped if you're not exactly the right level for the mob, etc) then things would've worked differently.

If there was a decent looking-for-party flag and search system, there wouldn't be a problem. Party exp in XIV is pretty quick at any level (and stupid-fast at 40+), assuming you can find a party.

I don't know if you saw my edit, but yea, that'd fall into the last paragraph I edited. Normal leveling just needs to be a lot more convenient than it is.

I found exping a low level class even faster than in Rift, and the reps said they are looking for possibilities to make it even faster (which honestly makes me feel sick- changing camps every 3 minutes?)

And I didn't find Rift that grindy at all either. They seriously gotta change the way Missions are played out though, felt like a waste of time compared to rushing through levels like a maniac.

Well I guess it's okay. We are encouraged to play with the pool of classes available to us and level them all independently for one (group) spec at time. I guess there's some balance in that mechanic.

Another French interview, most information has been said but he did say a tidbit about the console interface.

The new interface for gamepad will allow to use up to 128 commands with shortcuts and the presentation is very unusual, which may surprise some players. They didn't want to show it to the players yet because they wanted to show them that most importantly PC interface is coming, but they have a picture ready to be revealed at some point.
