Hey gang,

Got some information regarding achievements to share with you all:

Will I log in after 1.20 and achievements will pop up instantly (earn level 50, defeat 100 enemies, complete this quest storyline, etc.)?
By talking to the achievement NPC to first unlock the categories, achievements that have already been completed will become listed as completed.

Where do I get the achievement rewards from? Do I talk to NPC or does it appear in their inventory when conditions are met?
Rewards for special achievements that have rewards will be obtained by talking to the achievement NPC.

How do you see another player's achievement-earned title?
Achievement-related titles will be displayed in the widget that appears when checking another player in-game.

Please note that the following types of achievements will not be instantly unlocked upon speaking to the NPC because these stats will be reset and begin counting from patch 1.20 onwards:

Achievements related to the number of synths
Achievements related to the number of gathers
Achievements related to the number of additional materia melded
Also achievements that involve collecting items such as:
Obtain Templar’s Chain Coif, Templar’s Haubergeon, Templar’s Sollerets and Templar’s Tassets will only be completed by speaking to the NPC while all of the items are equipped. Therefore, even if all of the items were obtained in the past, the achievement will not be completed unless the player still has the items in 1.20.

Yeah, that's even worse than I expected. I had originally worried about this since total synths/gathers at specific level ranges/grades wasn't something that was evidently tallied like total kills, class levels, NM-kills, quests, etc. but I had hoped that they were counted for some stupid reason... I guess not!

Completely shitty. Even more encouragement to turbo/bot crafting/gathering...

Some of these should be automatically gifted to players based on their preexisting class levels. If I'm a level 50 Weaver, chances are that I have made 50+ fucking Lv.1~10 WVR items.

I really hope you wont have to unlock those achievements in order, meaning need to finish synthing lvl 10 items before you get to lvl 20 ish items. But than again it's SE so probably will.

Oh yeah i completely forgot about crafting lower recipes achievement, dumb. but, as long as it doesnt give anything i wouldnt really bother with it.

Each achievement earns you points (presumably in different categories based on the achievement). So, yeah, even those stupid crafting/gathering ones will give something... and depending on how much the trophy items cost, it could be completely necessary to go back and grind out those retarded non-retroacrively-rewarded achievements in order to afford the items.

Are there gonna be trophy items unlocked by achievement points? I was under impression that certain achievements had items tied to them and that the points are largely irrelevant.

If my trophy items you meant crowns/equipment, then yes. After you fulfill enough achievements and talk to the achievement NPC for your reward.

Nevermind, it looks like lower-tier achievements are for "fun" or "a sense of progress" while only the top-tier achievements most likely yield trophy items. Of course, unless they decide that they must be completed in sequence as worried about earlier. Or... they decide that completing all achievements in a category is what yields the item.

I think most people are assuming they will be vanity. However, the amount of work that goes into getting those golden tools can be pretty ridiculous and if they are worse than the currently available Lv.48~49 tools... that's going to be pretty weak.

I assume they'll be like XI's vanity items, have some mildly/potentially useful/unique function on a needlessly overlong recast timer (though maybe not considering that function doesn't really exist in XIV yet).

Are all the quests needed for these golden tools (Miner is my concern) out already?

Well, they listed that the golden pick required "A Miner's Life For Me" for all three regions (la noscea/thanalan/black shroud)... which is most likely the top-tier Mining achievement of "Gather XXX amount of times at Grade-5 gathering nodes in ___ region."

If the amount required ramps up accordingly from the revealed Grade-1~Grade-2 achievements, that "XXX amount" could easily be 4-digits...

You can see similarly named achievements for all three gathering classes (Good Things Come to Those Who Bait, etc.) for all regions. The lack of retroactive gathering/crafting tallying makes me sad in this regard. I have done way more than my share of fishing.
