Ahh I see. Though yeah, SE time and all that. So not expecting this to happen for a long time.
I've basically been only following this game to monitor server populations... I know I'm not coming back until I see some tolerable numbers. And it seems like that won't happen until we get the merge.
According to this thread (don't know where the data is from), there actually wasn't that much of a drop in population immediately after subs (1/6?). But I was on one of the more popular servers (apparently) and it was only barely playable before, and it must only have gotten worse.
Spoiler: show
I think they could definitely do with canning every server below like, Besaid.
Well like I said, they are planning a server merge, so it'll be playable soon enough. I did find a static on Kashuan that does all sorts of shit so i'm pretty happy where i'm at. Once they do the server merge i'm moving my ass to the highest pop server I can find though. Pugs are useful for stupid shit that I can't solo.
I thought it would be way worse than that, guess all the lolmad people were trolling and decided to pay anyway :D
Well some people had Crysta paid in advance, maybe that's why some people are still playing?
Though yeah, I was hoping for a bigger dip to so Wada would have another wake up call.
Maybe they thought since they already paid for the crysta to just stick around? That's one reason one of my friends is still playing.
Those numbers are still pretty bad, I still think they picked a terrible time to start charging when 1.21 has all the stuff everyones been waiting for. I expect those numbers to rise quite a bit for the next patch at least for a few weeks until the hoop-la wears off.
Yeah those numbers are most likely coming from the Awabi or the Logsuku Japanese forums. The population thread have been posted on most of the FFXIV fan site forums as well as the official ones. I even posted a much more detailed population trend in the official forums... but it got blasted with spam by some of the posters to push it out of view (funny though not one person who is "defending" the game commented on it).

I guess I have to state the extreme obvious, but if I don't others will. No this is not the entire FFXIV population. It is just the population during Japanese prime time evening hours. Call it a snapshot if you will. Also the above 2 charts show the current trend and the complete history trend as well. Hence why on each chart and forum this is posted I use the word trend and not the word total.
A more detailed spreadsheet showing you the both graphs and numbers can be found here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...Gc&hl=ja#gid=0
To give you a comparison on the above document link: On January 25th NHN Japan is going to merge the 10 servers from TERA down just to 3. If Yioshi wants to still maintain the "2000" as the optimal number of logins then chances are he can easily reduce the number of servers down to 5 (plus or minus one depending on when the merge actually comes in and if that number stays the same).
Those numbers are bad but they weren't much different before the addition of fees. The truth is the doom and gloom predictions were totally wrong and the server merge should've happened a long time ago.
I'm tired of logging on in Bodhum and having no party whatsoever and being forced to solo with leves. I'm currently not playing (and paying) but I'll subscribe as soon as the merger is announced.
Yeah I find it odd that it can expire. I think originally it was not going to expire but they did say they can change the rules as they see fit. According to this:
http://support.na.square-enix.com/ru...ag=sqexaccount
(h) Expiration of Crysta and Termination of the Crysta System
Except as set forth in Section 4(b), Crysta do not expire, but SQUARE ENIX reserves the right to alter or terminate the Crysta System at any time without notice. In other words, Registered Users may redeem Crysta for as long as SQUARE ENIX chooses to make Crysta redeemable for products and services, which SQUARE ENIX has no obligation to do.
And now we have this:
http://www.square-enix.com/eu/en/acc...ta/charge.html
Crysta remain valid for two years from the date they were added, expiring at the end of the final month.
For example: If Crysta were added on May 10, 2010, they would expire on May 31, 2012.
i canno read JP but google translate makes it seem like it's coming out in 1.20b lols
should you want to translate the spaghetti yourselfCode:オッス!
the yoshi seems to be saying another letter from the producer/player poll is coming soon as is 1.20b but HOW SOON IS SOON???
Looking closer I think that's a carpet, but I thought he had a steak on his head at first. <_<
Not surprising considering they've added the key item in the game with patch 1.20.
I know that Goobue has been alluded to many times, but of all the things they could be wasting their time with, I can't believe THAT made the top of their to-do list.
