I've heard some speculation, but nothing official. No aggro at all seems kinda broken, but I wouldn't be surprised if it could take a bit more of a beating before becoming 'lamed' or getting bucked off.

If it's no aggro at all, then I'm glad I haven't bothered with the exploration achievements yet.

Somehow I doubt an Ice Elemental contained within a gem for centuries has any interest in becoming your slave. As far as I know, the two things haven't been associated, but I suppose it's possible.

Sometimes I wonder if people know what certain words mean when they use them. Furthermore what's the reasoning for saying this exactly? How does it do so?

Methinks you just feel "it's stupid" and that's what you should have posted instead. IMO riding a goobbue mount is no more or less Final Fantasy than summoning Fat Chocobo for storing items. Yeah it's a silly concept, but they're known to throw those in from time to time.

Yes, it ruins immersion when the chocobo which has been the iconic mount in every final fantasy to date starts getting replaced by some huge gobbue mount. You will feel less emersed in the world of Hydaelyn when everyone is riding a giant gobbue instead of the iconic chocobo. I wonder if people are capable of comprehending anything that isn't simplified to where an 8 year old can understand.

If you've been able to keep your immersion through the copy-pasted areas, TV shows while crafting, constant teleporting, lack of an airship ride, and stationary NPCs everywhere, I'm sure you'll be fine even with gobbue mounts added into the mix.

Even if it's a gimmick or w/e and not a serious mounts it's way fuckin better than shit like a reindeer costume. It looks like a fun thing to have, people are blowing this way out of proportion.

But I wish SE would worry less about making funny gimmicks, and worry about making the game worth playing. I understand that they still need to add seasonal/random event content for the playerbase who still partake in the madness. But I want quests/storylines/boatloads of gear to chase after/etc, not a goobbue to ride.

Have you even played or kept up with what they've been doing lately? There's fuckloads of content already in game, you have the umbral live event stuff happening, new GC rank with quests to follow, and the loads of new quests that were added in the last patch. We're getting jobs, chocobo gear(at least it said that in the dev document posted in october), private rooms, and 2 new raids either this month or next month. They have half their team devoted to making content for pre-2.0 and 2.0, not to mention the other half that is rebuilding the game.

The umbral event stuff takes 30-minutes tops. Most people spend more time trying to figure out how to actually participate in that stuff, than they spend doing it. I agree that it's cool, but that's not much content. The 'new GC ranks' were earned by spending GC seals, and only 1 new quest was required for the final promotion. There were a whopping three new quests added in 1.20. Two GC-specific quests (you could call this 6 quests, but any single player can only partake in 2 of them), and the moogle thing. If you were referring to 1.19 when you mentioned "new quests", I'd say less than 10 of those quests were actually interesting. Achievements aren't content, they're busy work. The rest of what you mentioned doesn't count because it doesn't exist yet.

The New Year's event was nothing more than a teaser. You don't actually meet a gobbue and the Elemental has been trapped for years so I doubt he'd like to be turned into a mount <_<
That said I can't wait for the Magitek Armor mount, everything else is good too but that'll be amazing.

I think Gobbue thing was just a quick thing they slapped together.
I really dont expect much more than few gimmicks before 2.0. I think they are focusing alot of attention on post 7th era stuff as the shit that's going on will basically go away. Jobs, inns, mount armors, etc will be carried over but things like cutscenes and stuff maybe gone because they become irrelevant.

Time sinks disguised as content. I don't personally have my hopes up any higher than that until 2.0. If SE pulls out a surprise that's worthwhile in that time, more power to them. Here's hoping job AF, raid drops and the Garuda drops after that are worthwhile. Moogle was fun and the weapons are cute but what's the point when Ifrit's stuff is still better?

I wanna say they were going for the "max DPS" weapons with Ifrit and playing the "solo utility" card with moogle weapons. However knowing SE, they probably didn't even consider this and the latter were just a product of "what could moogle weapons give" without any thought or process to what the purpose of their added effect was (in terms of gameplay, execution, utility, etc.).

Just accept the fucking Goobbue gift for goodness sakes. "Breaks immsersion" for who exactly? The five servers we'll probably have after merging with 2500 people online at any given time? If it's true it will move at a lumbering pace I doubt anyone will be using it seriously for transportation means besides for a few laughs. We won't be seeing a million goobbues accept for the first few weeks after it's added. It'll be used to AFK waiting for parties to gather outside of towns and to show off to newbs.

I really hope the Goobue has some different function then the Chocobo mount does. Maybe it moves at normal running / slightly slower then running speed and avoids all aggro, so it would be a mount to avoid mobs, and leaves the Chocobos for faster transportation.
