XI's chocos avoided aggro. That's an mmo, right?
XI's chocos avoided aggro. That's an mmo, right?
No, you get real.
Honestly, virtually everyone who picked FFXIV did so because it's a FF first and foremost, not because it's a MMO.
What exactly is wrong with staying true to the standard FF formula? Not that it has to, but dismissing it because they're "console mechanics" is dumb.
Also, how about stopping expressing your utter disgust for FFXI at any given opportunity?
This may be true, but that doesn't make it a console rpg. It is an MMO, regardless.
The problem has more to do with the simple fact that console mechanics do not always work well in an MMO, and should not be carried over just because of "FF feeling" or whatever.
Aggro free mount is a bad idea. What should be changed instead is they shouldn't have level 30 quests with level 60 mobs blocking tunnels that you need to traverse. That is just more of the stupid shit they have done that discourages exploration in a genre generally known for exploration. Hey, exploration is a console FF concept too, so you should like that right?!
Mob placement in general in this game is retarded.
I love Impact Gaming Community's "professional" attitude lol.
Chocobos in XI could only be accessed in a handful of zones, personal chocobos were annoying to get and maintain (had to recharge whistle, reuse timer, slower than rental, etc.) compared to XIV chocos which we can call so quickly and easily that it's normal to mount and dismount a half dozen times while doing a single 7 minute leve. If we could have been aggroed and knocked off of chocos in XI they barely would have been worth using at all (as if they were used often to begin with).
Also where are there lvl 60 mobs blocking lvl 30 quests?
Only place I've seen high leveled mobs for a lowbie quest was the R36 BTN quest. Though they may have fixed that.
Let's leave IGC out of it eh? These are my opinions, not theirs. You're either a Republican or very immature.
That aside, they've made a lot of really bad decisions in this game and we all know that. Are we back to white knighting them just for the sake of the "Final Fantasy" name? There are certain standards we come to expect from these types of games, and also certain mechanics that belong and don't belong (for various reasons, one of which includes the results of said mechanics being used in other games).
For whatever reason, XI had aggro-less mounts. Why? Who knows, but that was their game design. It made 0 sense. Other games don't do that because it is part of their game design. As 2.0 approaches, we see SE moving closer to the design of "other games" (ie. Not FFXI), and I have a hunch that aggro-free mounts will also "not work" in their new game.
I am against that concept, and others are for it. Too often people support SE's ideas because they only played FFXI for any serious amount of time. That does not entitle you to having a good opinion, just an opinion, period. Opinions, bellybuttons, etc. anyway. You wouldn't say you had the best keyboard on the market just because you happen to like it more than others. You'd only have the best keyboard on the market if it's been shown to be the best for a multitude of reasons (and even then, you could still hate how it feels). It's the same with MMOs.

Anyone who did these before 1.19 or so may not have had to deal with it.
So disagreeing with you is a crime now. I'll keep that in mind. The only place I "advertise" IGC is in the recruitment post for Neutral Impact. My sig is no more an advertisement for my website as someone else putting a link to their blog. It doesn't say "HAY GUYZ JOIN NI LOLZ!!1!!!111"
If you're done with your idiocy for the time being, we can get this topic back on track. I've presented my reasons for not wanting aggro-free mounts. I'm done with my part of the discussion and I am sorry our opinions differ, but hey, that's life.
Well that is the rather extreme example he chose to use.
OK. As long as we understand it is very difficult to have an actual discussion when it almost always come down to "XI lovers" and those who have experience in other games.
I don't hate XI. I played it for years and it was a fun game at the time, but there's more out there now and it's worth checking out. Cool?
i get it i get it you played tons of games and are a professional mmorpg player i can tell by your sig just shut up now
as i said before, anyone dissing goobbue mounts is a dumbface mcpoopypants
Grey is a FFXI hater, that is all I read from his posts.
