    1.18 should be VERY interesting.

The thing about dungeons is this:

    Enmity still doesn't function right.
Stats still do jack-squat for the most part outside of vit/mnd. Level difference is everything right now.
Class system is still a total mess.
All of this is going to be adjusted either partially or completely, simultaneously with the release of the dungeons. It's still going to be a mess because all the rehauls come in two parts, not one (I swear everyone will suddenly forget about this come 1.18 ), but I would guess that they won't leave us hanging for months with the mess of an old + new systems that doesn't work. It may not make sense in every aspect and clearly needs more work but it should function well enough for the dungeon content.

Those who have been playing the game with the current combat shouldn't have an issue playing it with the mixed combat for few more months. They could postpone the dungeons until the combat is completely rehauled, but if it's ready why not just add it in?

    Battle Regimens
This is left for part 2, iirc.

I'd also guess that after the rehauls they need at least few more months to polish the new and old systems, it should be quite rough on the edges. The PS3 version release needs to be closer to Christmas than mid-Summer imo.

    -----------

Oh yeah, 1.17a coming on Monday. No teasers so expect something mind-blowing.

So without a good shot in the arm, how do you get new people to play so you won't need a shot in the arm like the proposed cross-server LFG? You think a new battle system is going to stock the servers like some Walmart goldfish isle? Hamlet? A single dungeon? A mailbox system?

Purists seem content to let the game continue to stagnate with sub 100k (and that's being very kind) subs simply so that the game doesn't turn into any other game on the market, for better or for worse.

I certainly hope SE has had enough of listening to its most ardent fans. The trouble with battered wife fans is that they'll stick with you through thick and thin, but even they can't throw enough money at you to keep your boat afloat.

Edit: There's a huge difference between "hey, I'll try this back out" and "hey, I'm willing to endure the shitty paypal system and buy SE's E-currency each month to play this game." Anyone can try the game out again, but once SE starts charging, hahahaa....

What do you want changed about battle regimens? After I read this http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/29253...with-pictures/ I have enjoyed them a lot more.

Well, what's the biggest complaint about combat? it's cumbersome.

    Make it less cumbersome.

And when someone skips the "for better" part, they're still purists that shouldn't be listened to? Fuck, there are idiots on the forums against the most basic shit but dungeon finder ain't that simple, as demonstrated here by not just "purists" but most people.

Although in this case, that weakness can be turned into strength over-time as long as Yoshida is willing to do that.

For me the problem with BRs is when people are way too slow with them.

Not so much talking about you, Hyan (you aren't a purist, clearly). You know what a purist is. Look at the forums, and look at one or two posters here.

No denying it, though: purists hurt what hope this game has for a revival.

Oh, I see. I hope Yoshida has his feet on the ground on this one indeed. The community reaction may not always be something to be beneficial to listen to.

In other news, todays devpost deals with food (they're aware of the issues, are working on a solution, blahblah). I think we found this one out in an interview before though iirc.

I hope the reps will slow down a bit though, and implement all the shit in the queue before talking about more upcoming stuff at this point. We should start seeing teasers about that next week or the one after that probably.

You do know wow uses cross server LFG atm right? It has several "million" players and is using it, what makes you think FFXIV won't need it when it gets popular...? Its main goal is to "reduce the time looking for people to do stuff". People will always want to do stuff as "soon as possible", they do not like to wait. The LFG system will only get better as more play.

Keeping hate can be difficult because of the retarded stamina costs of taunt/provoke and the like, not to mention that abilities that apparently lower threat gain still increase threat merely from using the ability (more than you would have raised it by just casting a spell normally).

Hate technically has been fixed, its not really broken. Just after tanking for awhile and paying attention to stuff you learn what does what.

    1. When you dodge/parry/evade/block (partial or 100%) you lose enmity
    2. When you get hit you lose enmity (harder your hit the more you lose)
    3. Your enmity drops at a constant rate (unsure how much but its noticeable)
    4. You lose enmity if your attack misses/dodged etc

Unfixed Bug - First 1-2 monster will gain aggro then drop to 0, and retarget the first thing. Mobs "already chasing someone when spawned" do not have this issue.

Usage of abilities are 2nd highest of threat to that of provoke/taunt
Warcraft itself is pretty weak threat, it buffs you with +enmity to everything you do however and spamming abilities after it generates a ton of threat.

Some mobs DO USE enmity reducing/reset type abilities (pretty noticeable on the cactaur NM thing) but its not the only mob that does it.

People are slow with BRs because nothing explains them in game and people who play with controllers have to set up macros to make it not retarded.

BRs are much easier to execute with the gamepad too. My group has em down really, really fast now. It's just a matter of tweaking the damage output here and there now, but the lag makes if difficult to do that sometimes.

Yes the controller makes them a lot easier. If you do use a keyboard though you just have to hold down shift when selecting a WS to add it to the BR.

Sorry just re-read this. When your in active mode just hit the button that usually pulls up emotes (mine is set for R1). When you do that over the skill you want it will add it to the BR list. Then you just hit the "menu" button on your controller to activate the BR.

That's pretty much what I do. It's annoying G can't both enter me into BR mode and execute one though.

I really really hope they don't listen to 99% of those idiots over on the Lodestone forums because thats exactly what most of those posters are, smoke and mirrors purists who thinks things that are clearly horribly designed should stay because its "challenging gameplay" and as soon as someone says its poorly designed they tell you to go back to an "easy game like WoW", lol.

As for the enmity debate, shit is broken to some extent. My friend and I party all the time and he'll chain nuke shit for 4-600 dmg a pop and he'll lose aggro a lot when I whack a mob twice for 100 damage doing no abilities or ws's.

My duo partner always complains that I'm slow with them, but he always seems to start when I have something like Provoke (or something else that takes 50% of my stamina) in que. I can't help it, I have to wait for stamina to charge to 50% and let provoke go, then que my attack for the BR. Would be nice if there was some way to instant que your attack, no matter what is already in que, once the BR has been started.

Main problem with BRs is you can't do anything when in regimen mode. Which is a huge pain if you're near the bottom and watching your buffs wear off before it gets executed. Sometimes I think it would be higher DPS to not do regimens apart from the TP down one and just spam. If I'm locked in a regimen for 30 seconds that's about 10 normal attacks I've missed out on, all for a WS that does very little damage. Only the people at the top do good damage in the regimen. Maybe auto attack will fix that and keep on sending normal attacks to the mob while you're in regimen mode. It seems BRs aren't the problem, but like everything else in this game the UI is the problem.

I believe one of them talks about making the HP bar (the one recently introduced) a tiny bit smaller either today or in the next patch.

    I like that, always felt it's just way too big lol;

Instead of making all these changes to the sizes of things... why not just work on the option to edit the scale of the UI. That way people can scale it to their liking.

Edit: Other post seems like its about making the Action Bar not disappear? Not sure.
