Why is it called a "mini game" anyway? It's just a text menu that has essentially two useful choices (with a 3rd choices randomly spawning). You generally know what you're going to spam before you even start.
Because the outcome of each action is somewhat random (full success/success/fail/crit fail/unstable/explode) and you use your predecided arsenal of abilities to deal with those outcomes and try to balance your risks with durability/progress/quality?
Come on, don't play stupid. You know it can be relevant if the recipe itself is difficult enough. Again, people judging shit based on what they do in the easiest path while grinding to 50, not on the actual usage.
Similarly, you could call every DoL ability besides Sweat of Brown and stat besides Output trash because it doesn't help you exp any faster. However, if you've actually gone out just to gather specific materials, especially +1s, you wouldn't be saying that.
Except that once you decide if you go for success or quality, your choice become relatively mindless and obvious.
They could just ask you if you want HQ or NQ, and blow up the ingredient accordingly.
Alright alright. The system is fun, challenging, and only intelligent individual who mastered the fine art of statistics are able to perform high quality items.
Yeah, because me considering it a "mini-game" somehow translates to that. You're a moron.
Again, it would be the same shit if they were giving you a single series of choices with different success rate. I don't understand why you think that rolling the dice multiple time turn this crap into a mini game. Just keep the music and timer, people are still gonna call it a minigame.
Calling it a mini-game is an easy way to refer to it as well. However it is a mini-game, albeit a poorly designed one. It gave them a baseline way to compare time in battle, and the subsequent exp reward, to time crafting, and its reward. It's been thrown out of whack since the first battle change and the gap between dow/m exp/min to doh exp/min has only gotten larger.
It's fun to watch it all unfold imo. Every time they say they're gonna increase the crafting exp I just chuckle inside cuz it just seems like they're never gonna get it right. But they gotta keep you playing somehow, right? Imagine how much worse the materia system would be if there wasn't an abundance of max level crafters. Cue conspiracy theories about why they moved the default cursor to recipe from requested items button.![]()
Nobody likes to craft, simplify the process and call it a day.
Leveling off the current system is definitely a chore but once you're at 50 and not just grinding for exp I rather enjoy it. Personally I'd prefer to have some control over my craft than have it be all luck.
If I'm not mistaken I thought there was mention by Yoshida in one of the Live letters of making it into a choice of either fast crafting ala something like XI but you have little to no chance to HQ and skip the "mini-game" or going with the current method where your focus is attempting to craft HQ items. To me this seems like the best option; giving us a way to make the grind faster but when you are ready to craft something of importance you have some control over it.
Checked the Dev Tracker this morning. Nothing has been officially translated, so please excuse Google Translate

A French translation concerning turbo controllers/keyboard macros:
Concerning voice chat in game:Hello,
Let me clarify the situation regarding the use of third party software or other tools having an impact on Final Fantasy XIV.
First I want to remember the rules on our site for assistance:
The use of keyboards with advanced features is not prohibited either. However, the use of these features to automate certain actions on the Final Fantasy XIV is. Be present at his computer does not automate actions acceptable. Thus, players using third party software, according to a "turbo" a game controller, keys programmable keyboards or a more traditional (such as a stuck key) take the risk that their service account Final Fantasy XIV suspended or closed.Activities affecting game balance
Our definition of activities that distort the game
The use of programs or third-party tools within FINAL FANTASY XIV is strictly prohibited in that such devices allow players to enjoy benefits usurped the detriment of others. The use of these programs or tools within FINAL FANTASY XIV, who according to automate certain actions continuously returned to play in absentia by a robotic, which is also defended in FINAL FANTASY XIV. Besides this and not limited to, players, during an investigation into their gambling in absentia, to be arraigned by a Game Master in this case and will comply with instructions given. Failure to comply with the orders of a Game Master is considered a violation and may result in disciplinary action against the player's account at fault.
The following activities are prohibited:
• modification, analysis, integration and reverse engineering of game data;
• the creation and distribution of utility software;
• operation of a possible flaw in the programming code of SQUARE ENIX order to extract a profit or oppose others.
I would also point out that the special unit is present and active on Final Fantasy XIV. Do not hesitate to report suspicious players directly through the Support Center Square Enix (choose "Report a violation to the special unit" at the bottom of this page). Investigations of players in offense can be long. The measures taken against the offending player may not be visible, this does not mean however that nothing is done.
If in doubt regarding the use of software, functionality of a keyboard or anything else having a possible impact on Final Fantasy XIV, do not hesitate to contact a master of the game directly from the game ("services and Support "from the main menu). They will be able to answer all your questions. The support service is available in French GM and 24 hours on 24
Thank you again for your cooperation.
Accessory toggle:Hi, this is Yoshida.
Thank you discussing on voice chat. Here is my opinion is this:
Statement:
We are currently planning not to implement voice chat for FFXIV. Not even for version 2.0.
Communication Level:
Privately, I am also an online gamer. Accordingly, I also use voice chat when I play MMO / MO / FPS or fighting games. This is in my eyes, but really just for "hardcore gamers".
In MMORPGs is the main form of communication because of the chat and it is text based, it is fairly easy to use.
In addition, it can be very irritating to hear the voices of all the players - especially if these are to a large group. If one puts aside the risks, I believe that this means of communication in comparison to chat some steps to move higher.
Pros and Cons
Each of you has basically already said all this.
These are the main reasons for not doing so:
-There may be times when it is expected of players for game content such as raids to use voice chat.
-A great fear is that female players will be annoyed when they say something and then has to stay away.
-It will create a divide between those who have a microphone and a sound system and those who possess no such thing.
-Because it requires more bandwidth will increase the cost.
-We will need some kind of sound effect management, so they do not have to hear the "real" voices.
These are the main reasons for doing so:
-It is much faster than the written chat and suitable as a direct communication especially for players in groups.
-If you look good with the other person understands, then it is very convenient and feels as if you call.
Alternatives to voice chat
There are many good alternatives for voice chat such as Skype and Vent.
We think that there will be few cases in which one player, "Come on, now USERS but voice chat, heaven again 'get heard if we do not offer official voice chat. So if you in your linkshell or the solution to a number of free societies can, it would be a good idea to consider a third-party software for voice chats.
Summary:
We are still working on making the games for our players in FFXIV safely in all regions.
Even if we can support voice chat technology and would continue to do so officially, we have to think carefully beforehand about many aspects, so that it does not end with a bad experience. Based on this evidence, we have decided not to support voice chat officially.
Not sure why this was a concern, but regardless:There have been discussions within the development team about whether or not there should be a /display on/off feature for accessories; however, it would require a lot of work to implement and as there are other things that need to be prioritized first, they decided to put this on hold for now.
If there continue to be requests for this in the future, we'll let the dev. team know and they can look into it again.
There are no plans currently to make it possible to add materia to accessories.Shneibel's Avatar

andJust wanted to let you guys know that you'll still be able to equip Disciple of War and Magic weapons and gear when you become a certain job.
For example, if you are a Paladin, you will still be able to equip Disciple of War gear that a Gladiator can wear and wield Ifrit's Blade. The fact that you're on a job does not change the fact that you're still a Disciple of War.
There are a few more JP ones that didn't translate too well/at all. One is from Yoshida talking about the HQ system. The other talks about unicorns and wild horses, specifically a "unicorn of red on a black background" then mentions Mr. Odin a couple of times. Have no idea what it's about as I couldn't decipher it.There are no plans currently for job specific undergarments but we do in fact have plans to implement high level undergarments in the future.
Found one last thing:
The survey will happen, yes! I can only say it will happen before the update 1.21
Only way I can think of them actually being able to see if a person is there is by sending them a /tell in game. Other than that there's no real difference between that and just a bashing enter who's actually there.
Oh gtfo with this bullshit. There have been discussions within the development team about whether or not there should be a /display on/off feature for accessories; however, it would require a lot of work to implement
This is just a pet peeve of mine, nothing to do with the actual topic of accessory display, but when they just spew crap like that it annoys the hell out of me. If it actually was difficult to make something simple like accessory display optional they should be embarrassed as fuck at their shitty engine and programmers.
Tell us it's not important and we don't care to waste time doing it (truths) not that it's difficult (false and/or ridiculous).
/rant
Well to be fair, there are a lot of basic things that they literally can't do because the engine can't handle it.; delivery box being one of them. So to try to add and accessory toggle before 2.0 may legitimately be a lot of work because of how awful the engine it runs on now is.
Not to mention... who gives a shit if you can hide your accessories before 2.0? They're pretty tiny.
It's still luck. You simply get to decide when you want to stop (or start) gambling on the risky HQ (RNG can still fuck you up). "Wait" command are other abilities you have are don't add much to the system.
Like I said before, they could give you a single "durability" and "quality", and simply ask you if you want to go for "success x%NQ y%HQ" or "high quality item x%NQ y% HQ". You could generate result similar distributions of faillure/nq/hq
