I'm happy they are rethinking of the idea, but i hope that it will not happens too often, i am one to approve and welcome new things or things done differently but i just hope that they won't back down on every idea cuz the OF cries (because whatever the idea is good or bad, there will always be people crying)
I think this time it was a case of everyone crying. They haven't backed down with some of the other horrible decisions like archer = bard and dumbing down the HQ crafting system.
No i know but when you open a door people pass threw.
I like how two weeks ago was supposed to start the rolling out "a lot of information, some of which we didn't know about" and so far we've got jack.
Yeah, they were supposed to have some out every day, right? Maybe I misread but I coulda sworn that's what was said.
Is what they said exactly; regardless, it's still be the normal slog of nothingness they've given us since 1.20 went live.Originally Posted by Bayohne

There's a healthy amount of information coming pretty rapid fire, so I hope you guys can hang on a few days more. I don't want to overstep my bounds and list them out (I could probably expect my phone to start ringing after I hit post ), but there are some meaty details coming soon. I think you'll all be pleasantly surprised to learn about some of the things coming in 1.21 that weren't previously announced or hinted at (I know I was reading the list ).
Oops sorry, this was posted two days ago. UPDATES!
I'm making my grand appearance to let you know that we are in fact planning to release a video of the new raids.
I hope you all will look forward to it!
Just another reason why no one takes them seriously.
A man is worth two things: his hire and his word. If you can't trust a man to be worth his hire (AKA not getting the job done, ala. Tanaka) and can't trust a man at his word (AKA giving us teasers and statuses about future info, and then releasing no new info), then what is that man good for?
Pretty much. I consider Yoshida the "lesser of 2 evils" mostly because he will listen, but that's pretty much the only real thing I can say he has over Tanaka at this point.
I'm sure it all boils down to the fact they're developing for two different games right now and having to make it compatible with this shitty client means content might have to be cut out of what they had planned. Thus they can't announce things too far ahead of a patch because it might not be possible to put it in.
No excuse for not giving info about the raids at this point but I don't care because it's useless content for me and many others until after the merger takes place. They should have prioritised the merger over patch 1.21. By the time the merger happens beating the raids will be formulaic and people like me who like to be figuring this shit out from patch night won't care about them any more so the wait will be for the next substantial content which will probably be V2. I wish I could put my subscription on pause until V2.
I will judge the competence and success of the development team after the first 6 months of V2. If they're failing at that point it's time to give up.
What I would like to know is why they havent released ANY concept art at all since 2.0's announcement, and just the blm/drg concepts before that? They must be generating the stuff like crazy, they could just release a bit weekly (doesnt even need to be anything meaningful) to remind people that 2.0's coming?
SE still has piss-poor PR.
I'd make a thread on the forums requesting a weekly art feature or something, but there's no way I'm paying for this game pre-1.21 at the earliest![]()
Maybe they don't want to hype 2.0 much right now because people might join the game now, find out it's shit and not come back. I think they plan to show off V2 in the next live letter but who knows when that will be. I expect their major PR push for V2 to start with E3. They need to impress there as well as admit they made major errors with the first release.
More over, if 2.0 isn't shaping up to be everything they'd hoped for, the last thing they want to do is over hype it. It would just wind up being the initial launch catastrophe 2.0.
I think my expectations of 2.0 are less than most. Not so much out of cynicism but I'm just expecting the same game with shit fixed and in good working order, not a whole new game.
When they answer a question about something with "it'll come in 2.0" I don't read that as "it'll be there when 2.0 lands" I read it as "it'll be implemented sometime between 2.0 and eternity".
Pretty much. The hype is going to be extremely volatile the second time around, it would probably be harmful to release too early.Maybe they don't want to hype 2.0 much right now because people might join the game now, find out it's shit and not come back. I am not one-bit hyped for 2.0, why? what have they really shown thus far? They can't get patches out on time, they still use very questionable methods(server merger plan is ridiculous at best) They still don't understand proper quest-flow, Job balance up to this point has been laughable at best, I could go on and on over about everything that people have beat to death over the months the game has been live.
2.0 might fix a lot of problems on the development side but they have a lot of questions to answer before people blindly believe in the 2.0 hype. I think they need a bonafide homerun @ E3 to even have a shot with 2.0, it all starts there imo. I'm skeptical at best about 2.0 and their ability to deliver a modern game that isn't riddled by really bad/questionable design choices that also go with their very bland, class stacking content.
Exactly this. 2.0 has become a scapegoat for a lot of things missing in the game, and I do not necessarily see them adding a lot of what they've promised within a year of 2.0s release. If 2.0 releases with only the current game's content (even with the handful of added raids) it will pretty much be dead on arrival to the masses.
Poor SE, having everyone make excuses for them. At least this means they don't have to, which probably means less communication from then to you.
Huh.
