Yeah... Big patches are nice but I'd rather have gotten two small patches with something to do by now.

You would think that someone in the organization would be familiar with the concept of under-promise and over-deliver.
If it's December 23rd, I don't really give a damn between a patch being promised for February 25th and promised for March 10th; both dates are effing-forever-from-now. But Yoshida seems to think that promising February 20th and then delay-delay-delay is better.
The real lesson he needs to learn is "1.22 released on July 15th" and then (internally) commit to get it out before the end of June. Imagine, a FF patch actually arriving ahead of schedule? That, in itself, would be more uplifting than any possible content it could contain.
Maybe I've missed something but what are they changing for spellcasting with 1.21? Are they messing with the formulas or what?
Running will interrupt casting.
It looks really bad to me that I can't think of one patch that made it out on "time" since the new team took over. I could understand maybe the first or second patch they did being behind because the new team is still getting settled in and working with a new game. None of this looks good to the public, especially with how close this game is still being watched by both players/media.
It is going to be such a hard sell as it is and if delays keep popping up everytime its patch time then you have to wonder if there is still a lot of miss management going on.
Makes me skeptical when they claim delays will not effect 2.0 release. Really? Not holding my breath on that one.
On the bright side, when this patch hits there'll be a shit ton of stuff to do from the looks of it. Should keep us busy for at least two weeks. Maybe a month.
There's a different group working on the engine/servers for 2.0. They're also implementing content on both versions at the same time.
2.0 will probably have a slight delay (even though we do not have an official release date yet so it wouldn't really count as delay anyway) but I don't think it's gonna jump to next year.
Anyway how many patches are they releasing before 2.0? Iirc up to 1.23 right?
GameStop has the "release" set for the first day of next year for the PS3 version
People still haven't learned that chains jsut set bs dates just cause their system requires them to set a date.
Really? Man that's good to know, guess I erase that date off my whiteboard then
V2 needs to be a killer patch loaded with content because nothing they're adding before that is anything special. They're still adding things that should have been there at PC launch.
A little something on a dull XIV-news day, translated by Reinheart.

First off with 2.0's system there wont be a crafting where you choose from the materials instead you will choose a recipe to start crafting.
For that reason we can't do these
However, for this one.Originally Posted by Miyavi

By completing quest you are able to craft the items and you also obtain the recipe.
For this one, dev team already has an idea when you level up you will automatically learn new recipes but also have some recipes where you can only obtain by completing quest or leve.Originally Posted by Miyavi

I think gaining recipes by quest or leve is an interesting thing to do with DoH.
I wonder how they'll allow you to choose between HQ/NQ ingredients. Some toggle option for preferring HQ or NQ ingredients probably.
I do like the idea of needing to "learn" a recipe though, so long as it never turns into "I JUST NEED THIS LAST RECIPE AND THE RANDOM RECIPE I GET AFTER COMPLETING MY LEVEQUEST NEVER GIVES ME THE ONE I'M MISSING!"
Incoming letter from producer (probably tomorrow). Like TacoTaru's post above, this is from the JP translations thread.
Producer/Director Yoshida here,
The next producer letter just completed so first thing tomorrow morning (Japan is 5:30AM right now) will forward to the translation people and will have it posted as soon as possible so please look forward to it!
