And to whoever asked about Darklight drop rates, it truly is miserable. When you combine it, with the drops rates of Mog/Ifrit. The motivation to continue is abysmal. I had to opportunity to get my few basic learning runs with Grey's Linkshell (which is a great group), and I now run it with a different LS.
I've done 30ish mog runs, and about the same amount of Ifrits. All I have is Ifrit's Bow.
Darklight, 22 runs so far and I haven't seen a single piece.
I was expecting something like that, given the overwhelming awesome of the Darklight stuff. (O.< ) My LS begins Cutter's/Aurum tonight, been waiting on some friends who were either away on military duties or occupied with overtime at work.Darklight, 22 runs so far and I haven't seen a single piece.
I'm expecting hell. (>.> ) I do wish they'd do something better with rates, I do not want to run a repeat of Salvage.
Urgh... SE needs to get out of this "Piss poor drop rates is a good thing" mentality.
For someone like me who apparently has a horseshoe up my butt, the drop rates don't seem that bad. I got a weapon on my first Ifrit/Moogle kills, and saw two Darklights from my first 5-Chest Cutter's run, of which one piece went to me.
Also, unlike Ifrit/Moogle, the new raids actually drop sellable items, so it's not like every run is a total loss whenever Darklight doesn't drop. I think I've made close to 3 million selling raid gear.
You can do Ifrit as many times in a day as you want, right, Corr?
You probably shouldn't compare pre-totem and post-totem Ifrit runs.
Unless you're saying it took 100 Ifrits to get 10 totems?
Only for my first attempts. Afterwards the drop rates were quite hellish. =/
Anyway, I guess I'm in the minority opinion when it comes to thinking that the drop rates are fine as is. I would agree they're terrible if there's a significant cooldown timer every time one enters a raid, but seeing as you can do them over and over again I don't see much of a problem.
Maybe I got 'trained by FFXI' in my way of thinking, as it took me 4 damn years to get my RDM Hat from Xarcabard.
I'm going to assume that totems = tokens for exchanging for loot just in case someone didn't get any drops on a run?
Pretty much. Stanislaw has the drop rate fairly accurate.
For Moogle/Ifrit weapons, they drop in your inventory without any control over it. So if you get a dupe of a weapon you got, it just falls to the floor. Tokens on the other hand automatically go to your loot list so if you don't want it you can give it to somebody else.
Kind of a shame they don't do a token system for dungeons. They would have a lot to work with in terms of variables to evaluate your performance.
In more than 30 runs I've gotten 3 (have 4 because I was given one).
With a 10% drop rate it would take you an average of 100 runs, yes.
Also quoting myself from another thread regarding Ifrit drop rates:
The fact that dupes are possible and cannot be given to other party members is entirely unnecessary and purely sadistic. There is no justification for a system like that, none.
That SE; always on the ball. I need a Gomez Adams .gif right now.

I just got some top secret information about the effect of “Enhances Cover” found on the Gallant Surcoat…
While one may believe that it improves the effect of Cover itself, it actually adds a whole new bonus to the ability all together!
Specifically, when taking damage while under the effect of Cover, you will gain an MP recovery effect. This applies not only to the damage you take instead of a party member, but also the damage the paladin receives directly.
…I’ve already said too much and hear footsteps…I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING!

Well, this changes things. But there still needs to be more changes for PLD to be a bit better.
