Anyway, first deaspected crystals and now, this:

Just wanted to say that I think the shady figure is a GM who has been visiting the camps. I arrived in Camp Horizon tonight and found a GM there preaching about the 7th era and impending dark abyss or whatnot. I had to put it into google translate though since the GM was talking in japanese and I am not sure of the accuracy of the translation (since it was very disjointed.) I copied, pasted and saved the chat log though, and will make sure to post here what he said if anyone would like to translate it properly (and if I have not been beaten to it!). I would do it now but I have just shut down my computer ^^; Sorry!

But yes the GM appeared and spoke to everyone, did a few crazy abilities and buffed everyone with a 15 minute quickness and vanished! It was all very mysterious.

Not gonna see it in XIV, but yeah, just wait for GW2. I had that argument with XIV about 6 months ago about how annoying it was to have these quests describing all manner of things, only to get to the area and see nothing. No countryside homes, no villagers anywhere, no nothing. Just like XI, which is what the "true" fans wanted, apparently.

Hopefully those same "true" fans are sticking with the game 150%; hopefully their 15 bucks a month, which means more to SE than the rest of the world's 15 bucks a month, will save the game down the road.

This is one of my big gripes as well. There needs to be more to this game than us being glorified pest control and more settlements that have something specific going on in relation to them. They need to do a complete mob revamp while putting chaos into the land. I mean we don't need an XI 2.0 where all we're fighting is critters all damn day. I want to see Demons, Garleans, Evil beastmen, ghosts, skeletons all out and about.

I mean lets face it, the mobs are flat out boring right now.

One of my biggest concerns about FFXIV is that SE might have completely dropped the idea of going the extra mile with this game, and I'm still afraid that their communication with the players will completely stop once the game picks up sometime in the future (and we'll go back to the early days of XI), If SE takes this project very seriously it could eventually be something big, but if all they're trying to do is get away with the minimum I don't see this game ever being a maintstream MMO. But then again, SE might just be cautious about the amount of money they're pumping into this game right now.

It also bugs me that they won't even talk about the new battle system, but that's probably because they don't want people discussing and suggesting stuff that has already been put into work. But hopefully we'll have a timeline and an outline for the coming patches after this first half is done.

Yeah this is getting very interesting, very cool how they are going about this. Also had the GM teleporting to random camps and tossing out hp/mp buffs and quicken. He was speaking in JP at first, but is now talking in french. Saying destruction is not certain, you can change the future and stuff like that. Major props to Yoshi and the rest of the dev team for how they are doing this. Makes it very interesting and I'm craving new info on this matter.

At the same time, near Gogorano, another NPC popped up called Alfgar, and started barking a message about bewaring a false prophet. Guess they're on opposite sides of the fence on this one.

The funny part about people calling them mako reactors is SE have talked about a materia crafting system that they plan to implement. Shady figure coming around preaching doom, Sephiroth v2? Is this game FFVII-2 or something? Hey if SE can turn this game into online FFVII it will be a guaranteed success!

People are saying the music in Thanalan has disappeared about 5 hours ago. I've not checked myself but with this GM appearing in Ul'dah and that change maybe something is about to happen in that region? Bit weird since the lore talked about Gridania.

Wait it wasn't just me? I was walking from Gridania to Uldah yesterday and noticed the music stopped playing when I reached Thanalan. Thought it might have been a bug since the music started playing again once I entered Uldah.
Kept thinking it was eery walking without music...
