Better than what I was thinking. I was expecting it to work like XI's surcoat where it increases the chance of covering a magic attack.

Now if they'd just remove that silly 8 yalms restriction, that might actually be useful! (lol)
Let's not forget that it's a 1 min recast now too!
Seeing as I have a hard time believing everyone totally missed what 'Enhance Cover' does until now, I think they ninja'd the changes in 1.21a but forgot to include it in the patch notes and/or forgot to change the description on the AF coat. Most other descriptions are relatively straightforward. Except for the physical and magical crafting stats, which nobody knows what the hell they exactly do still.
I too got Ifrit's Claws on my first win. It certainly inspired me to level my PUG/MNK to 50 XD But i too hear so many horror stories. It just comes down to there just isn't enough end game content and they need some kind of road block to keep you playing. Low drop rates it is!
No doubt it's what they are doing and I did not expect them to back down from that till 2.0. The fact that they are lowering the token requirement in next update is surprising to me honestly.
They said previously they will increase drop rates of older content once new is released to keep the "hardcore" people happy about how they can rub the items they obtained into casuals face.
On a positive note, all this XI bickering reminded me of all the Ridill drops, KSNM99 drop rates, etc, and hell I'll take Ifrit drop rate over that. Took a while to get 7/7 on those weapons but atleast they content is much more accessible.
I can understand lowdrop rates because theres not enough content in the current game to keep people playing long term. If 2.0 comes and thats still their answer, low drop rate content similar to XI drop rates i'm gonna lol. I rather content be extremely hard with fairly decent drop rates than everyone and their grandma being able to do it with low droprates.
Whenever I join an Ifrit pickup there's always a token LNC (seriously, it always seems to be a LNC, not even a DRG sometimes, a LNC) with retarded/dated gear that contributes nothing and they're universally silent the whole time to the point you forget they're even in the group until you have to raise them.
And they always stay until the group dissolves completely, they're never the one to leave after a run or two.
I'll restrain myself and not bitch and moan about the many things wrong with Ifrit PUGs, just thought I'd contribute that tidbit of curiosity.
edit: and I suppose it's a small mercy that they had the kindness to mention the future reduction in totem requirements (not that I'm likely to have 10 by then anyway)
Spoiler: show
1.22 is supposed to be by the end of April assuming no delays. Also, are you having dirt luck with winning or just drops, Niro? If it's the former and you're on Durandal, I can throw you a bone and gather up some people to do some Ifrits when I'm playing again in a week or so; my wife still needs dat Cane Train for a full set.
The issue is drops more than winning, but when you're in a crap group the former exacerbates the latter into solid, crystalline rage.
Add in people in the group getting dupes or even worse, getting weapons they don't want and throwing them away (I have all jobs leveled) and, well, yea...
(also no I'm on Sarg, but thanks anyway)
I dont understand how they expect to make Cover useful when bosses are designed in a way that if you pull hate you're probably getting one shotted.
Also lemme get this straight... In order for me to get MP back for myself I need to rely on someone else pulling hate then running behind me late into the fight? When I normally wouldn't lose hate anyways?
These people seriously need to go play Paladin in WoW and learn how to make abilities that restore MP through their use and keep the action going. Jesus fucking christ.
No, you just need someone to be within 8 yalms.

Thats such a stupid move then... Why even call it Cover? Them doing that added effect makes Cover in itself useless according to it's description because no one will be using it for that. They should just change Cover to be a different move (name it something else with a different description) that restores MP. I don't know a single person who used it for it's "original / tooltip definition" purpose. lol
It's a bit deceiving and it feels un-intuitive tbh.
There's also the issue that you only get MP back when you wear the AF body on PLD. Eventually the AF body will be obsolete and since they prevent gear swapping mid-battle we'll be back to square one with the MP issue. I don't even know if the devs just said this to placate people while they work on a permanent fix or if they haven't even thought it through.
