The info that it was the intro trailer came from one of the interviews shortly after it was released, it was one of the English interviews I'll look around and try to find it.
Edit:
Found it. It was the Famitsu interview from Japan. Via Reinheart at post 1606 of his translation thread.

Basically there is still hope for the press one to be most gameplay, and they can release the intro trailer online later as well as on the show floor.New Opening Movie
The new Opening movie made for the New FFXIV is planned to be released at 2012 E3 (Short term for Electronic Entertainment Expo presented at Los Angeles, USA)
Well I'm not going to look for interviews that are months old or even Dev replies in the official forums as that'd be a nightmare right now but I'm 100% sure this concern was quickly addressed by Yoshida himself and he said that gameplay would be shown as well. We don't know SE's plans for E3 just yet but they aren't exactly limited to 1 trailer only if that's what you're worried about. They could easily show the new cinematic to explain what happens in the storyline and also show gameplay afterwards.
Even when FFXIV was announced they had a "surprise" panel afterwards to answer some questions, they'll probably have something similar or even set up playable booths for the new version.
I'm looking forward to new benchmark. Need something to tie me over till E3.
Edit: Or any version 2.0 media blitz to occur. All that information back in October was boss but we haven't really seen much in the way of reveals since then.
Wow content finder will be used for leveling with people from other worlds as well as for dungeons. Look at SE going a step beyond whats expected.
Aratharn we'll level together soon! It'll be like playing the lottery trying to get grouped together. lol
Edit: And just like clockwork... People are bitching. LOL
rofl win.
From my understanding yeah... Unless that was lost in translation. I'm curious cause only game that does anything remotely similar is GW.

In the recruitment screen under the purpose section there isn't category for leveling, we understand the inconvenience but we have other tasks with higher priority and cannot address this issue with current system In 2.0's content finder you will be able to party easily with people from other worlds to do leveling or raid dungeons. Making party in 2.0 will be done by using below two features. Content Finder For players who want to join content or leveling where you just want to party and don't care who to party with. PC Search For those players wanting to be PT leader to make the parties or for those who don't want to party with players they never met before. By this for those who just want to join PT to participate in a content or leveling can simply use content finder and for those who want to become leader and setup party you like can use PC search to invite and make a party.
SE's version of Raidfinder and cross-server instances. Interesting...
Hoping it's done better than in Warcraft.
Do I even want to know what people are bitching about...?
Also, not to sound antagonistic, but what did you (solracht) think was wrong with WoW's version? For a while (when I didn't have or want to spend much time logged in) that's like literally all I played in WoW, and I never felt like it was badly done, per se.
If you mean on the Official Forums, it's because it's the Official forums and they won't be happy until the game is a longer grind and a more botched mess than it was at 2010 launch. There is literally a thread there saying we need the 2010 launch system for leveling. I don't want to bother trying to find it, because my head will explode, but you get the idea.
They need to just go ahead and get rid of the official forums.
I think it would be tolerable if all they did was remove the "General Discussion" section.
Semi-offtopic:
Spoiler: show
Ahh.. Didn't think it would be possible. Still though thats good I suppose that you can flag yourself as seeking exp in Darkhold/Cutters/etc.Camate:
I'd just like to clarify one thing...
It will not be possible to use the content finder to form open-world experience point parties and such, pulling people from other worlds. It will be possible to indicate the objective "Leveling" but it will take place only in certain areas such as instanced raids.
