I don't regularly run to Gridania, but recently found a Rotting Corpse mob R46 hostile at the zone line from Thanalan to Shroud. Anyone else seen this?

Thanalan music has definitely stopped. Just came on checked it myself. Going to Thanalan, DS zoneline and see if I can spot what you mentioned Waraji.

I've been running back and forth due to missions and every time since then it hasn't been there. Kind of strange.

And... why is it raining so much in Thanalan? Where's the music?

Its not just raining in Thanalan. I just teleported to every zone in the game on an Alt. Its raining EVERYWHERE simultaneous right now. Blackshroud, Bloodshore, Drybone, Horizon, camp glory etc.

It's raining in Mor Dhona and Coerthas too. No music changes anywhere but in Thanalan, however.

No rain while taking the ferry either.

The Guildleve NPC talks about the weather being fickle, so it's not a random occurrence.

I'm assuming by Sixth Sun, Seventh Moon they mean the next 6/7 in the game.

See you in a while then, because it's currently 8/13 in the game and there are 32 suns if we're to believe the character creation screen. I'm almost sure the ingame 6/7 happened around a week after he showed us the prophecy, I remember keeping track of it. It's more likely that the numbers talk about the eras and not days, like Hyan said.
