That's nice. But that doesn't mean that 100% of gamers populace is.

It would be more of a band-aid than a fix, but could you have an option to bump up the difficulty in exchange for better drop rates? Not entirely unlike stars on leves?

It only takes one instance of a theory being wrong for, well, that theory to be wrong.

    That was the point.

Except I don't think you can name a game everybody on earth liked (or like everything about it).

    That was the point.

And I think that's more of a fact than a theory that there will always be someone to complain about stuff.

Low drop rates are the the most disheartening thing in the game at the moment for me. It never bothered me in XI, because most of the time that piece was still going to be relevant in the future for xyz gearset. With XIV and stuff being outdated by next patch or even just multi-melds, I find it harder to get motivated to grind for crappy drop rates. Coupled with the fact that they keep adding gear that serves no purpose other than to be macroed in, but with the lag and how they're supposedly removing the macroing while passive ability during combat, even collecting situation pieces gets muddled in what I want/don't want to do while logged in.

Other than that, I enjoy the game quite a bit. That comes with the caveat that 2.0 does bring about serious change, because I couldn't keep playing this game forever how it is, but I am hopeful with each patch going forward. I just wished they'd fix some of the biggest offenders.

This is me spot on. I'll never understand why people are wasting their time getting gear in 1.0 (if they're not enjoying it) when 2.0 will likely just raise the level cap and invalidate all your hard work. Instead, I work on things that I know can't be made irrelevant, like leveling crafting, and do things that I actually enjoy, like random events with in-game friends. I also refuse to make any large purchases for that same reason, and while I'm not among the richest of people, I'm pretty happy sitting on 18mil because I figure that'll be far more valuable than gear come 2.0 (or even the next patch <_<).

Stuff that require LS's and their combined dedication towards a single goal is something I will consider endgame. How many times does this need to be said? Why do people still act like they don't know Yoshi's main focus is on 2.0? That is where they are putting the majority of their efforts in right now. So because they are spending the majority of their time on 2.0 and not 1.X the cheap way for them to extend content for current playerbase is making drop rates stink. Yeah it sucks right now but you have to keep the big picture in mind.

I'm pretty concerned about the concepts as a whole. Not just one thing or the other. The only thing that I like so far is that Garuda always drops tokens.

What does this game do better than the other newer titles? Can you name even one thing?

Don't really think preference of a game that's not out yet has much bearing in taking part in a forum for one that's already out but whatever. As for Yoshida's focus, when the plan came out in November or whatever, it was stated 20% of the team were working on 2.0 and i imagine that would go up over time. To me, this suggests that content going in now (like the sanction effect and it's awkward inconveniencing) might well reflect their ideas of 'balance' for the future. It's certainly worth remembering that Yoshida is one of very few things that have changed about the people on the team from Tanaka's time, and given FFXI's trackrecord for balance I think it's a valid concern to have really (especially considering the games Yoshida references for inspiration are mostly 5+ years old).

I think great potential is the one thing keeping me interested, I guess E3 (where I imagine they'll put on a good offering) will decide whether that's the case or not.

I don't think the content is as big of a problem, I think everyone who has followed this game knows that SE is limited on the engine and basically all the content right now is just filler. My problem with the game is the actual design choices, like why did SE do it the way they did it sorta thing. I guess my problem with the game goes much deeper than the content like class/job balance, diversity, etc.

I find GW2 to be so fuckin over rated, it's same shit we've seen before 100 times. SE pisses me of to no end with their decisions but at the end of the day this is the game I want to play and I am cheering for.

I don't really understand all the uproar over sanction, I thought it was their way of keeping old gear relevant. Wouldn't some/most of the GC weapons be better than hardmode primal weapons if their sanction bonus was always active? How would someone who had spent so much time on ifrit, moogle, or garuda feel about people just grinding seals for a superior weapon? (I've never fought any hardmode primal before) Even though it's commonplace in other MMO's, do FFXIV players really want all of their gear outdated every patch?

How would you implement alternative ways of getting new gear that doesn't invalidate all past patch work, but is still worth getting?

The problem is we know very little about 2.0 other than it's going to be less demanding system wise and a better UI. It still doesn't answer the questions many people are asking about (class balance, low drop rates, low man type of events, etc.)

2.0 could work without a hitch, but if the quality of events/content/battles doesn't see an overhaul either, I really don't see this game getting a lot of new subscriptions.

We could always wait to complain about what 2.0 will bring until it comes out.....

E3 should quell lots of questions about 2.0, I don't think the complaining about some of the direction of the design choices are unfair though.

I suspect E3 will quell questions that new players might have, but as far as content direction goes, I don't expect them to delve into the specifics that veterans would like to know.

Those of us that are playing now are essentially beta testers. I don't think this team is as stubborn as Tanakas and I'm pretty sure they going to do necessary adjustments before 2.0 because they have to at this point.

Just what, exactly, do you know about 2.0 aside from a single screenshot and some fluffy-talk dev-speak? I mean, seriously, you're giving a lot of free, unearned credit to a company that designed the biggest major MMO flop in the biz, and yes, XIV was a bigger flop than Anarchy Online (which is actually doing alright now) and Age of Conan.

I want to see 2.0 as much as anyone else, but to be cautious in regards to 2.0, especially when we haven't seen anything breathtaking since this game came out, is intelligent. I don't know what you are, right now, but based on your responses that everything will be A-OK come 2.0, well...

Just because most of the team is working on 2.0 doesn't mean that it will deliver. Hell, it doesn't mean anything. "Most of the team" was working on XIV originally, and look how it turned out come launch. We all hope 2.0 will knock it out of the park, but you're joking if you think that anyone that posts in the BG thread is a troll. Please don't start whiteknighting a game that isn't even out; a concept that hasn't even been espoused, much less delivered-upon.
