And about bags in 2.0Hey everyone!
As we have mentioned previously in the past, quests that are not completed by the time 2.0 is implemented may have their progress rolled back. In regards to this, we will be making an exception for the quest “A Relic Reborn” so that players can maintain the pace that they are most comfortable with.
Hey everyone!
We Just wanted to give you some insight about the current plans for inventory management:
In 2.0, items will be stored in a 5x5 bag. When viewing the contents of the bag, it is possible to display them in a list with the most important items sorted on top.
In addition, when repairing items, the list will display items that can be repaired at the crafter's current level. The items in worst condition will be displayed at the top.
We may also consider additional sorting functions if there are enough requests, so please let us know what you think.
Bags are needed and are good. Get away from that tired single player FF template, or at least give people a choice between the two.
Somebody request auto and manual sorting, please.
Huh? I'm not particularly for or against bags, but I fail to see how they're needed, or even that great of an improvement.
The ability to see 25 items at a glance is nice, but now instead of hitting page down a lot, now you'll have the added step of having to figure out what bag stuff is in. Given the sheer amount of similar-looking items in this game, the utility of being able to see 25 items at once may not even be that big of a boon. I hope there's a white box or little +1 or something to indicate at a glance what items are HQ or not.
Bags are far easier to navigate through than scrolling down a list of 80-160 or however many items a game like this has, IMO. Bags are also swifter to access, in terms of lag and loading. I haven't seen a game yet where my bag had to "load", or scrolling through the bag itself produced lag. I can think of a huge game, however, that had all kinds of lag in both loading items and in maneuvering up and down.
As I said, though, offer the choice. Most modern games use bags. I can't think of a MMO outside of XI and XIV, right now, that doesn't use either a bag setup or grid that essentially serves the same purpose. More choice is always better, especially when, and this is key, you're trying to, once again, bring in people that are not already playing the game.
If menu's weren't so laggy, i wouldn't mind. But I have no problem with bags.
Ugh. How am I going to go from 200 inventory to 25.
We are getting 100 inventory spaces (5 bags).
Presumably, personal housing will cover the remainder of the lost inventory.
If they were smart, they'd do to bags what other games do and have bigger bags come from crafting and as drops for high end content.
or from goblins, that require random bullshit.
lol, the gobbie bag quests weren't so bad, tbh, but it is another gilsink/time waster if they make it something like that.
And Chocobo's, although not out right confirmed it seems Yoshida hints at Chocobos can carry items in 2.0 and in one interview 'speculated' (Since it was back when 2.0 was announced) about raising a chocobo just for carrying a large amount of items. If the Choco can carry 100 or more inventory on its own then we won't need to worry too much about space, plus a good deal of our inventory is in gear switching between classes and the mannequin system is supposed to alleviate that issue with mannequins and equipped gear no longer taking up inventory space.
In other news today on the french lodestone/forums they announced that Yoshida will be at Japan Expo on Saturday the 7th where he will do a live stage demonstration of the 'new version of FFXIV' while also signing books. When pressed on the forums a rep said video would be allowed so maybe we might get the first in motion look at 2.0 like how we got camera footage of 1.0 back in 2009 at Gamescon.
If were gonna have a 100 on-char inventory limit I'm in trouble.
Hope the other inventory avenues are convenient.
It look me a while to come around to the idea of bags, but then I thought back to some other games I've played that use them -- namely Monster Hunter -- and I don't worry about it as much. I actually don't know that 5x5 is big enough for my tastes... I think with good icons and room to place things in different spots, it's actually a little easier to have 10x10 and see your icons rather than remember (blindly) which bags you use for which. However, I greatly look forward to better organization options, and I'll take pretty much anything they give at this point.
Isn't it confirmed (or maybe just assumed?) that gear you've set for your classes/jobs won't be in your main inventory? If that's the case, space won't be a problem.
They said that a looong time ago man. 200 inventory is definitely temporary. It all depends on how Mannequins work, should be pretty awesome if gear on the set doesn't take up inventory space. Inventory will be fine if you can have several mannequins in your inventory all full with different gear sets.
The E3 screenshots had four 5x5 bags and some U shaped thing that had 16 spots.
*Edit*
Double derp. Nevermind there's more than 16 equipment spots.
I wonder if bags will be craftable or just plain static items that can be upgraded via quests...
Vanya Bag +1 20m PST!
