Bit of a recurring thing with alot of the dev comments lately... We might have x but we dont think it will be available at launch malarky... What bloody will at this stage... Give us some of the juicy all summer long info that will actually be in the game stop with this may or may not crap. Just give us some confirmations what harm can it do at this stage!

Once AH, Delivery System, Storage, Better trade window / system and proper Inn rooms are in at launch (pretty standard) ill have all the faith in the world but some other standard features that have been discussed like bank etc are being discussed as hope or will or will not be's. Those responses are as good as telling us nothing imo.

Well, people assumed a lot of stuff that was mentioned in 2.0 comments/documents will be there at launch, but 2.0 just release and time after that. Generally yeah, I'd want the basic features at the start, and can wait for more stuff down the road.

Am I completely imagining this, or in the initial 2.0 roadmap, weren't we supposed to be expecting closed beta in Sept/Oct with 2.0 release sometime q4 2012? Obviously we've been having massive delays since 1.18ish so we all knew that wasn't going to happen.... but from Yoshida's comments, we won't even be getting to open beta by Jan? I haven't been following the game super closely so just a little surprised they haven't acknowledged this more publicly.

I'm not sure where you're seeing these massive delays. 1.23 was released pretty much on time and we were never expecting Open Beta in September. Yoshida said September for alpha and October for closed beta. Whatever happens after that will depend on how smoothly beta goes.

Yeah, pretty sure they're on time. It's been like that in the roadmap since forever, though it's always been weird and vague. This just says PS3 beta, and makes no mention of PC beta, which is just silly.

I'm pretty sure Version 2.0 software distribution means alpha and beta.

That only means they scheduled 1 month of it though. While I wouldn't put it past them, that's just outright foolish. Ugh, I don't know if they just suck at describing what they mean, or whether there's some translation flubs going on there. So unclear, so unclear.

It just means that alpha/beta start in that period. The Reboot phase includes all that comes after the start. They really have no strict schedule for beta, Yoshida confirmed this already. When it's done they'll release the game, not before.

And that's how a beta should work.

And in terms of delays... I would call these significant.

1.23 spans from mid June to the end of July in the roadmap. Either way the patches being delayed have nothing to do with 2.0, there are two separate teams working on those patches and the new version so delays on one side do not affect the other. Yoshida has repeatedly confirmed that 2.0's development is right on schedule but he won't give more details for the actual release because he can't.
Until beta starts there's no way to know when the game will actually ship, they made the huge mistake of planning the release before beta once and they're not doing it again. As far as we know alpha is in September and beta starts in October and so far no delays have been mentioned.
We'll likely know more this week at Gamescom when SE will officially start the promotion campaign for 2.0 and likely open beta sign-ups on the official website.

I wouldn't call a month or two significant actually. Relatively, that is. Maybe significant for current players in eager anticipation, but in actuality, nah.

In game development a month or 2 delay is nothing, people whining about it need to get over it. If they rush the game again we'll just end up with another steaming pile of shit.

It better be amazing and bring in a truck load of people. The lack of people and active linkshells in this game is making it very very boring.

They do this with FFXI too but the end of the production cycle (The arrow marking the end of a patch span) is usually when they expect to release it. Outside of 1.21 they have all been relatively on time, off by no more then a 2-3 weeks. Patch 1.22 came out semi early even but released with gameplay cut and finished closer in letter updates closer to that cycle's end for 1.22.

    This x1000.
Also Kuro do you know is there'll be a stream of some sort? I really don't want to sit here and read impressions from people who don't even play FF, I need to see the damn thing ><

I don't know if there will be a stream but there should be a post about it on the lodestone tomorrow with their schedule/etc. I'm in the same boat as you, I don't want second hand info from people that don't play 1.X.
