Variety? idk
Every craft is virtually identical in terms of practice, MIN and BTN are identical.
Maybe they just have a soft spot for fishing from XI.

Yeah, I was thinking if they were going to push FSH even further away from the mechanics of BTN/MIN, it might help overall to make BTN/MIN not functionally identical to each other.
Correct me if wrong, but I think Master of Fish doesn't do jackshit for Miner/Botanist either ya? If that's right it seems like they decided long ago that they were different and separate.
The master abilities (and all DoH/L abilities for that matter) never specify any exclusivity in their function and they can all be used cross class.
It may be called master of Fish but the description is "Increases your chance to obtain high-quality items while gathering." which is the same as the MIN/BTN equivalents.
I am pretty sure I've never had it proc on Miner or Botanist or if it did it never gave me HQs. I forget which one...
And Master of Rock doesn't give HQs in MIN either, what's your point.

I'm thinking SE will give the fishing secondary tool a different use and the spearfishing achievements will be converted to that.
SE needs to follow Sega's lead and add support for this.
I would legitimately fish with one of those
Not that I know of. It's basically just a small trident designed for stabbing fish/frogs/crayfish.
People speculate that they'll just replace gigs with nets... but that would be identical in function and flavor, while simply being more difficult to model/animate.
It's just looking more likely that they are pushing Fishing off into a weird off-shoot from the other DoLs with big time investments and complex mechanics... like how it was treated in FFXI. You know how sacred fishing is to the Japanese...
Hey guys, remember that item list that we were supposed to get a couple months ago?

This + Gear Sets = WinHello !
The UI team confirmed that it will be possible to change all gear of a class/job using a single macro.
That means macro will contain at least enough lines to change all your gear at once !
My only looming fear, and its quite legitimate, is that they will not have enough Gear Set slots, ever. They would need somewhere along 2-3 slots per class/job available.
I hope it is something they have considered for the long run. Although I'm basing this partly off of the Alpha videos, it is just quite possible it will be limited to as little as a half a dozen to a dozen gear sets come launch.
Oh good lord, I finally might stop forgetting to change jewelry/accessories.
I believe it's been stated the max number of gear sets will be the same as the max number of classes. I suppose there's nothing to stop you from using multiple gearsets to spec the same job differently, but regardless that is the vast majority of what's needed. At that point a simple macro can change a couple pieces of gear for situational use.
