Um, I stopped playing until 2.0. I had always intended on playing and I still pay for the game currently. I just find missable achievements that count towards an overall point system to be stupid, the old diehard achievements should be removed from the overall points but still display titles. Just sucks for people who would wanna pursue that, I never cared much for achievements and they are fine in games but its just an opinion that missables shouldn't be included.
I'd love to, Fffffff, but I cannot. There hasn't really been anything to post over. I mean, we heard a bit about crafting, hilarious windowed mode (welcome to 2006, baby!), and some huge debate about... something.
Time for another drought... Hibernating till EOM.
I am so happy about "Windowed Mode."
I typed that into Google™ and got about 1.5 million hits. I clicked on the very first link to see what the whole craze was about.
The title is appropriately named "How To Play a Computer Game in Windowed Mode."
The estimated time required is several minutes, but the difficulty seems to be on the easy side. They give you the "How To" and some "Tips" as well.
The most important thing is that you will need a computer game!
I was frightened by all of this information and immediately closed the article. I am inspired by Square Enix's resolve to not succumb into fear of the unknown and finally give FFXIV butthurt fans and NHL fans the option to play the game in Windowed Mode.
Thank you Japan... sincerely from a butthurt fan.
Windowed mode? Fuck that what the hell? I am not buying this garbage now. DID FF6 HAVE WINDOWED MODE ON SNES? HELL NAW IT DIDNT!
Plus like people will look at wikis now which is blatant cheating and use of 3rd party apps. Ugh the good old days are clEARLY gone.
On a more serious note if BradyGames were to come out with an FFXIV strategy guide I would snatch that shit up so fast..
Not sure if serious... but the only "cheating" is having 3rd party software interacting with the game, not simply running unrelated applications simultaneously.
Probably just a random jab at people who like sports games and/or hockey.
are you really not sure if he's serious??? really???

Hey, it's hard to tell around here when talking about this game whether or not someone is being sarcastic or patently retarded.

We have received requests to have a slot for the looks of the gear aside from the actual gear you are equipping. Development team did receive this message for sure.
Although we can't release this at the timing of ARR launch but we are planning to look into this for the future. It will require some time but would appreciate if you could please wait until then.
Some quickies from the French forums:
- Free Companies will be available from Launch
- Details for dying aren’t available, but rest assured that currently dye-able items will also be dye-able in ARR
- Gear bought with dungeon tokens will have lesser stats than dungeon drops
- Residential Area won’t be there at ARR launch
- No date fixed for iOS / Android authentificator, but it is in Naoki Yoshida’s planning
- It will be possible to use a USB keyboard with the PS3 version
- You will have to manually go down your mount to talk to a npc
Big mistake.- Gear bought with dungeon tokens will have lesser stats than dungeon drops
Pretty darn big mistake.
They ought to know better. (>.> ) They do know better. This bodes ill, and I rather hope there will be some backlash about it.
I can understand the idea behind this in that it gives some progression while also extending the life of content, but it's so damn frustrating because it's not what anyone who actually plays the game wants. If this is successful will depend on how much worse those token rewards are. If the difference is something like token rewards = NQ and drops = HQ then it won't be too bad, but if the token rewards are flat out worse than other easier to obtain pieces then it will be a straight up failure.- Gear bought with dungeon tokens will have lesser stats than dungeon drops
What the fuck manrandom luck horrible drop rate gear> consistent slow progress gear from doing the same thing?

I'm not going to engage in an argument over whether stuff has been mistranslated or not, but it doesn't sound like items will have 0.5% droprates. Some translations point towards: Boss always drops 2-3 pieces of rare stuff, and then tokens for those that lose the roll.Y: This time in ARR FFXIV instead of having percentage drop on boss monster, we have it made so when you defeat the boss monster you will get some type of reward. Even for rare drop for each party there will be 2-3 item drops, so would like to have that go through lottery within party. But to participate in that lottery it is set for each contents to 3 times per week.
For that we have reset timer available for each contents so it's to check on those status. Of course for those that didn't make the lottery will get a token (something like a ticket) and by collecting the token there are items you can trade so it's made so that there is some type of result.
This system sounds very similar to what Warcraft used in some expansions (albeit with somewhat different lockout rules), which is what everyone should be expecting at this point, given a lot of design choices. Under this system, the token rewards being slightly worse isn't that bad.
EDIT: Happy about vanity slots, but the last time Yoshida was asked about them he was completely against them (unless I remember wrong). Makes me wonder if he changed his mind or if they haven't personally brought it up to him yet.
Some type of result.. Mehlight!
