No housing at launch...![]()
No housing at launch...![]()
Can't tell if serious.
I mean, it's NICE, don't get me wrong, but...you know.
If you look at it as a substitute for the hypothetical "You can eventually get any item by grinding Official DKP" system, then yeah, it's a disappointment.
If you look at it as a supplement to the new "weekly lottery" drop system, then it's not so bad; even if you get screwed on the lottery, you're still making some progress.
As long as these Sub-par token items will be trade-able for seals I'm cool.
Wasn't housing confirmed to come in one of /the first patch for ARR a long time ago anyway? Like Summoner?
I clearly remember Yoshi mentioning that it wasn't coming at launch.
I believe their concept was that simply participating in a raid eventually earns you this bottom tier shit, which will at least help you gear up and aid in being better at said raid so you can get the good shit. It really is just a supplement to what we already have so people aren't attempting dungeon all fucking day long and walk away with nothing at all... but I think they misunderstood what people actually wanted.
I would prefer not strictly worse items than what people do the raid for. AKA: shit that's just going to get /tossed once you get the better version to drop. They should be comparable, and/or different items.
Consolation prizes are lame.
Watch the token purchased gear be like only -1 in stats across the board, basically making the dropped version a HQ. I don't have any problem with that.
This concept isn't really that foreign. Best gear in RNG, second best gear is tokenized. I don't really have an issue with that. We'll get something along the way and I find that pretty acceptable. We've dealt with bad drops rates for over a decade now so I think we'll live. This coupled with the potential for 2-3 drops per week or some cycle makes it even more bearable imo.
Yeah, I don't know why people are so disappointed by lower stat token gear. I think the fact they are pretty much replacing the the low drop rate for random but guaranteed drops is a step up from what we have now. You can actively use your rolls to obtain pieces for your main job while the same time gearing a job you probably do not play to often with the consolation tokens.
a little more was spilled~
Sounds a little like dyes and involving crafts in them is going to get pulled. We discussed this with Yoshida and he said that it will be possible to freely dye these items in A Realm Reborn. He also mentioned that although colors won't be shown on the Market when you purchase, if you ever purchase something and it's a color you don't want, you'll be able to re-dye it freely.
As for the final number of colors, and what they are, that's all still in-development, so we'll be sure to let you know when we have solid information to share!
Also, it was verified that White Ravens will not be obtainable in ARR.
The whole lock out thing makes me wonder exactly how it will be implemented. There needs to be some casual low man type instances with no lock out that people can do anytime with "decent" gear. The content with lock outs needs to be the higher end raid type content, and having a token system with chances at better drops works well with that. If there is only lock out timer type content though that will be kind of irritating.
Add: If they want to keep crafting as an important part of the game, they need to itemize each job so that certain pieces for each job you focus on token system and drops, and other pieces focus on getting mats and crafting them. For example, for ARC/BRD make boots a drop that you focus on getting, or building up tokens for until you get the rare drop, but for body or something, you focus on getting mats to craft. If Rare drops are all the best gear, people won't care too much about crafting, especially if token gear is also better. At the same time, if drops suck compared to HQ crafted gear, people will just focus on getting rare mats to craft with. If they can set it up right, there will be equal desire for everyone to gear up class/job with a mix of dropped and crafted gear. Also, I don't personally think it would hurt to have super rare items drop very occasionally in the more casual content, and I don't mean "any" rare drop, just specific high end pieces that make it worthwhile for people to repeat that type content, but there is still a slightly better drop from higher end content.
I guess it all ultimately depends on how intelligently they can itemize gear across all classes and jobs.
Gearswapping discussion, commence.
(I'm for swapping btw)
Based on the amount of salty tears generated last time, it seems like people would rather the forum sit idle. So I'll pass on more gearswap discussion.
Let's just not go there (again) (ever)...
English dev post on the lotting system:
On the Commemorative Coin:Greetings,
I wanted to post a clearer version of the specific segment in question here.
4Gamer: What restrictions are there on acquiring rewards from bosses?
Yoshida: In a Realm Reborn, when players defeat bosses, rare items are guaranteed to drop.
For example, if a single party of adventurers defeats a boss, that party will receive two to three rare items. Players can choose to cast lots to win these rare items; however, players will only be able to cast lots three or four times a week, depending on the content. We've added reset timers so players can track this.
Players that cast lots but don't win will instead receive tokens, which can be collected and exchanged for items. So you are guaranteed to receive something regardless of the result.
4Gamer: Two to three players will definitely receive rare items. The other players will receive rewards as well?
Yoshida: For rare items, it's possible that an unlucky player may not win despite casting lots several times. In this case, the player can challenge one of the other contents while waiting for the timer to reset. I must say it's a little difficult to explain how it works without actually having you play the game.
Like Yoshida says in the interview, it will be easier to understand the system once you have a chance to try it out. Keep in mind that details are still being discussed and finalized and what is presented here is just a portion of it. As soon as we have more information to share you guys will be the first to hear it!
This is pretty interesting. Seems to suggest that GCs might be changing, or the value of seals or whatever. In A Realm Reborn we are still planning to make it possible to exchange Commemorative Coins; however, whether it will be for Grand Company seals like now or for gil is still being discussed.
Also, the ability to exchange Over-aspected crystals and clusters for Grand Company seals is possible only during the Foundation Day event period and this will not be possible in A Realm Reborn.
