Naturally, I haven't seen any other game (nevermind MMO) get as much as a second chance as XIV. Feels like a waste if you don't put on your A game.

I never said that reducing options was the only solution to balance. I said it was the only solution to achieving a "perfect" balance. All I was arguing for is that there will always be elitists and no amount of balancing will fix that.

I'm not asking for perfect, I'm asking for better. And considering how bad 1.0 was, it probably seems like I'm asking for perfect.
From what some people have been arguing about game balance it does seem as though people want perfect. I'll agree that 1.0 could have used a lot of improvement. I quit that game two weeks after it was released and didn't come back until just before jobs were released. Even then I only came back when a friend said they would help me get shit done.

They didn't try their best, who the fuck are you kidding? If you don't even have the foresight to predict your results and the understanding and patience to follow through then you shouldn't be balancing classes. SE never listened before, they only did what they thought was right and fucked up continually.
It's an opnion, but I honestly believe SE tried "their" best to balance XI. I'm not white knighting for SE at all. I just believe that at that time and even for 1.0 it was the best that they could come up with. Narrow mindedness is one of their biggest flaws.

As for 1.0, SE has gone so far as to admit that it wasn't a finished product. Therefore, I can't blame them for trying out new ideas on a broken game. It was practically another alpha for them because they had access to a player base that would play what they gave them no matter what. People ate that shit up and the fact that people were still paying Subs is evidence of that.

Limit breaks naturally fall into class balance.
This is where I'd have to disagree with you. Limit breaks aren't a means of balancing classes per se, rather they are a means of balancing group dynamics so that a group of every job is just as powerful as a group with BLMx5 or MNKx5. I'm arguing semantics at this point, but that's how I see it.

...whereas if it is not class locked, all of the individual parts will be ran on whatever class can beat each part the easiest. That "solution" is far worse.

As long the dungeon content is varied enough that you cannot overload on one type of DD, the problem pretty much solves itself.

looks like the headpiece grows over time to become the full headpiece we see in the final image?

It does look suspiciously like a 3-step upgrade, but my best guess would have to assume it's mage > light melee > heavy melee versions of the head of whatever Bahamut-related sets they put in the Labyrinth.

Raining on my parade :/ it would be sooo cool! It seems almost lazy that they are so similar to each other. And yeah wyrmking bahamut put on some weight.

Hey, I hope I'm wrong... because the helmet looks absolutely badass and I am usually a light-melee type of player.

Bahamut definitely put some junk in his trunk over however long he was stuck in Dalamud.

If they want to stop job stacking they could just make bosses (or regulars for that matter) gain resistances to the same skill being used by multiple attackers. That would also promote variation in skills selected from other classes. Sure you can still bring 5xBLM, but maybe they'll only have the effect of like 2.2 or something.

Lets make sure SE can actually program something well before we start screaming for another PW just so you can get your elitist rocks off. Otherwise, you'll be all hardcore and elite on a dead server of a dead game, which, presumably, should make you upset because you can't show off all your l337 stuff to gawking noobs.

I believe he quit 1.0 when Tanaka was still in charge. Feel free to correct me on that, Lucavi.

It's OK, though... there's no problem with offering deep introspection on all the flaws of events you've never participated in. (Unless they are from other games like WoW or GW2. Then you're just being hopelessly ignorant.)

Yeah, for instance Darklight had 4 distinct sets: Tanking (WAR/PLD), Heavy DD (WAR/PLD/DRG), Light DD (DRG/MNK/BRD) and Mage (BRD/BLM/WHM).
