I don't see why there needs to be a limitation. Boy, I really love riding airships and running places but then again no I don't.

That interview pretty much told me the reason I didn't get into alpha was my shitty card. Nice to hear that confirmed D:
Good, Anima was a stupid system. l'll never understand why teleports weren't just on a 5/10 minute cool down system from the start of it all.
Are we getting one telecrystal per zone now?
"Oh no, everything is random! SE couldn't possibly want those with god rigs to test their game! No no no no! It was all random!" WRONG AGAIN!
I gotta stop calling this shit; I don't wanna seem TOO pretentious. <3
So I'm 2/2 with alphas, and 1/1 with betas. Hopefully my god rig continues to impress and I'll be 2/2 with beta, legacy status be damned!
I get what you're saying, but it's complicated.
Anima by design was always limited, it's just you never saw the limitation unless you were spamming teleports. Essentially it meant that if you were really good at resource management, it was a free teleport. If you spammed it, the ways to rebuild anima were small and/or awkward, so you were stuck running everywhere. The solution to the low interactivity at both ends was to just make teleport into a spell. People who only use it occasionally or sparingly will port about as much as they usually do and those who spam will do it less, but won't have to wait 4 hours...Hypothetically. Obviously how well this does is based entirely on how it's tuned.
Point being, this is mainly for the people who ran out of anima on a regular basis and thus had to wait for their anima to refresh to get anywhere.
EDIT: The REAL reason this is being done is because SE is "killing their children". It's when you evaluate systems you like and come to the conclusion that they weren't that great, so you get rid of them for something more efficient, if less romantic.
Pretty sure I called my card being the problem several times during the selections, I never said it was random. The thing that sucked for me was between alpha app and actual selection I got a new pc and a much better card, with no way to update my app. Oh well, at least I've got beta to look forward to
Dude, I run a GT 240M (which is essentially less than the minimum reqs) and I still got in.
I have no idea what you're saying. Not being able to teleport anywhere you want with no cooldown or restriction is asinine at best. If it costs gil, then that's fine. If they charged money then all of you and the OF would bitch because there's no reason (story and immersion wise) an aetheryte would charge you. If it's not somehow restricting you or making your lives shittier then it's a huge fucking cuban missile crisis.
Well, that sounds like a personal problem.
Not really, teleports will be free and unlimited.
I think it's fine to be able to leap around the world freely.
I interpreted that to mean that recast would be low, not non-existent. I guess we'll see though.
That would annoy me even more.
I was pretty good at managing my anima but there were a handful of occasions I would teleport to the wrong crystal. Having to just sit at Camp Brittlebark for 5 mins or w/e before you can teleport to Camp Revenants Toll would be a pain in the ass.
I'm for removing anima but hope they don't add a cooldown.
To completely remove the cooldown from Teleport would mean Return is now redundant. They could be rolling the two spells into one, but since I can't assume there will be a CD on teleport, I can't assume they'll get rid of Return either since they didn't say anything about Return. That means for all we know, the two spells still co-exist, meaning they need to be distinct somehow. Since both spells take you to Aetherites, they have to be distinguished in some other way, before it was Anima vs. CD. If Anima is going, they either become the same spell or need a new distinction. If Return still exists and is being balanced against an anima-less Teleport, Teleport needs a new limiter.
FFXII-style 'Teleport Stones' wouldn't be a bad idea.
Reward them frequently through quests/FATE/etc. (like dark matter frequency)
Sell them for gil (slightly expensive)
Sell large quantities for Grand Company currency (best value)
Done and done.
so basically, gil
Nothing wrong with gilsinks if they're done properly.
I wasn't really implying otherwise.
Yes, it would translate to gil if you could trade/sell them. To me, they would ideally be "EX" and sold for high prices by NPC vendors, creating a gil sink for the wealthy/lazy to feed and they would help create a constant incentive to participate in things like FATE or whatever content rewards Grand Company seals.
Ideally, they would be found with a high enough frequency in average content participation that only excessive teleporting would necessitate actually purchasing them (which is pretty much how Anima ended up towards the end).
For example:
NPC vendor: 5,000 gil = 1 stone
GC vendor: 300 seals = 12 stones
Content participation = 1~2 stones
Perhaps something along those lines.
