I think Goblins were added after the team change too? idk i'm too lazy to check
Doesn't change the fact there were Rainbow Basiliks by Revenant's Toll that were level 96-99 at launch '~'

True enough, but they weren't nearly as dangerous at the time!
Still stupid for them to have been there but its just... different.
I thought goblins were around since launch, they just weren't really in any areas people went to.
There's even that goblin NPC in LL.
I'm pretty sure that NPC was there from the beginning. There were no Goblin mobs though, those were added with the first patch I believe.
There were no goblins when I played, which was up until around early December, then again in Mid February.
That's kind of a difficult assertion to make considering the sheer size of the 1.0 zones and most people only frequented ~10% of the entire area where there was stuff to do.
I do remember there being that Goblin NM that dropped pieces for some crappy scimitar type weapon. That was pretty old, can't remember if it was in the game at the start, but it was definitely during the era where PGL could tank lol.
Goblins were not in the original launch. They wrote a lore in one of the earlier patches stating they were on some great migration; that they would return soon, to try to explain their sudden appearance.
I'm not even sure if any beastmen tribe mobs were even in at launch but I might have remembered there were 1 or 2 of em hidden in the caves under Nophica wells, lv 75.
The tribes were (only in missions though) but not the goblins. They added them when their NM showed up.
Those NMs were added in the first content patch in December 2010 so not long after launch.
I imagine Tanaka put level 99 mobs in the game because he wanted us to still be playing in these shitty designed zones in 10 years time. The fact there's dozens of unused dungeons also suggests that. I don't know if that's good or bad, it's nice to repurpose old zones so they don't become obsolete but at the same time I want some fresh new ones a year or two after launch. I suppose the problem was that every area of the Black Shroud or whatever looked pretty much the same.
brief interview from 4gamer translated by Reinheart via OF:
Less important shitQ1: From the games sold in 2012, which game title impressed you (or impacted you) the most?
Title: Guild Wars 2
Hardware: PC
In Japan this game isn’t well known but I was honestly surprised and impressed with the world that was created over many years and flood of challenging systems.
It has a PvP system with World vs World theme, the difference in classes is extremely small, and implementation of Dynamic Events where players can participate freely. The balancing is done very well.
I will be observing closely at their operations and their billing policy, as i have great interest! They are a very strong enemy!!
Spoiler: show
I said that there is no Stone Throw. You may be inferring something unsaid, when you could be inferring something else that's intentionally not being said. Something that may or may not be awesome.
Listen unless you're telling me I can smack the mob with my frying pan I don't wanna hear it
^ One can hope, as we know how powerful a cast-iron skillet can be from Mario RPG.
