"hold on dont trade the hourglass yet, its full moon in 7 minutes"
"hold on dont trade the hourglass yet, its full moon in 7 minutes"
It was always bullshit, nothing has changed.
I think overall more people realize its bullshit now, whereas back then it seemed like 75% of people believed it was real.
LET THF GET THE LAST HIT EVERYBODY STOP
So many stupid theories throughout XI, haha.
The general consensus NOW is that moon phase and directional crafting is bullshit. However, I swear skillups and HQ suck on lightsday......
It may have been general consensus, but it was always idiotic to believe in it. Back when I played I think the general consensus was, "There's no proof, but it doesn't hurt to do it just in case," which ultimately I still thought was way too much effort to put into something that was already godawful.
Nothing will ever beat AV theories.
Quite possibly the greatest form of Stockholme Syndrome in the known history of this planet. So much SE apologizing going on back then. People wanted to love it so damned badly; it was like a wife getting clotheslined on an hourly basis, but still being obsessed with her man.
Open the body chest last. Come to raid today without any DL, it makes the drop rate go up. Person who entered open chests. Person with boss kill shot open chest. Let traps kill Chimera. Kill the Lillies before Mistress.
Man, Darklight brought about some funny, shitty theories lol.
I have never heard any of that on either server I was on lol
Balmung was weird, I'm not gonna defend it lol.
Funnily enough, the no DL to raid thing came about from the JP side of the endgame community.
The only thing I ever kept stock in was /random and having certain people open chests. Both are actually tied into RNG, though /random is hard to accomplish in 1.0 due to lag.
As good as we got running the dungeons in 1.0 it always felt like a slap in the face for me when it came to opening the chest and not getting anything for the 20th time in a row
As much as I hated the shitty drop rate on DL and primal weapons, I didn't mind it too much because I was still playing the game and doing something as opposed to standing around waiting for something to pop.
Apparently there were crafting theories in XIV too that had to deal with Month, Day, and Hour you crafted since each one of those had an affinity to an element (fire, ice, thunder, wind, water, earth, umbral, astral) which all came about from a book at the Thaumaturge guild. I initially scoffed at it but a friend was able to pump out +2 and +3 items following that so who knows.
As a bone 100+3 on ramuh... I have to admit I fiddled with some of the theories lol. Going for cursed leggings -1, new moon, earth day, facing NE!
Even if they were bullshit, it was fun having to try different methods because the dev team didn't spoon feed you on what you need to do. You had to be creative, and I enjoyed the sense of "adventure"? Maybe thats not the right word, idk. But It was just cool figuring things out for yourself
Kind of like how I enjoyed playing through all the old FF's by myself, not using any help etc. And everyone else went out and bought the guides, and played on easy mode. Takes the fun out of it
It's not adventure. It's just lying. To yourself of all people. That's pretty much considered crazy, and on par with that notre game guy who thought some chick he never met was his g/f. Theory crafting is OK when it's grounded in reality and you can see results in objective situations. What keeps the moon-crafting lie alive is people looking for something that isn't there but finding it in anyway they possibly can. If you set out to look for something, you'll find it in some way and this is testament to that as well as the batshit-insane nature of FF crafters.
To you, sure? I myself don't believe in it, but it was funny to see others in my ls, as well as myself go 4/10 on tier 2 cursed -1 crafts while partaking in the goofy shit known as "theorycrafting". Did we believe it? No. But it was always funny to post when we hit something big and then everyone waiting till that time of moon/day/week and try it. What I believed in was paying my coins to get the crafters image, put on my apron and goggles and hope for luck to ride its course. Normally it did not.
Either way, the batshit crazy crafting in SS alone was better than the bag of shit that was FFXIV. Hope 2.0, etc etc
