Embrassingly after getting relics 6 of us did an ifrit hard run for a couple of members and we managed to wipe to it. Granted none of us had done it for a few months but we were just glad nobody was around when 6 pimped out relic holders appeared dead outside,
Most people didn't even bother with that content. Getting a group together to even attempt Garuda was hard as hell. You either were lucky to have a good LS or you missed out.
Because they weren't very good though, lol.
No more evident in the fact that when people posted a new way to BLM cheese the encounter, everyone's interest in doing it suddenly came back to life.
Can you show me where he said this? You're about the tenth person I've seen say it, and not one person ever can find where he said it.
I agree relics were extremely easy, but the only thing I've ever seen Yoshi say is that they'd monitor the rate at which players obtain relics and adjust the quest if they feel they need to. That could go either way really, for all we know Yoshi wanted them to be even easier with a statement like that.
I wouldn't hold your breath.
Personally it's the first time I saw that. Yes, he did say they were surprised at how fast people were obtaining relics and that they were monitoring the situation, but I don't remember any talk about actually making them more difficult to get. Especially, since the whole thing was mentioned in the context of people wanting the relics quest to be EASIER.
I think relics will be easier in ARR. The worst part of your relic in 1.0 was spamming hamlets for your 9 seals. Hamlet is probably going to be FATE content in ARR meaning you won't have to struggle to put together groups for it. No one wants to spend a week helping a guy gather seals, nevermind 7 other people. It was all good if you rode the boat with the original content patch though. Sure you could work around it if you were rich, but not everyone was rich and that was limited to 3 people per server per 36 hours.
Well if they keep the ifrit ex fight the same then it will be piss easy with no cooldown on WS, no animation lock and reduced server lag. Just make sure you have full TP for 13 nails and the hardest part of that fight suddenly becomes a joke. I'll assume it will be heavily adjusted though.
Wait, so now it's suddenly wrong to complain about what went wrong with 1.0 so that it may get fixed? I'll hold you to that in future.
No one ever said hamlet was difficult, it was simply a retarded unnecessary giant time sink with no fun gameplay that the game needs to steer well clear of. Yet the concept had so much potential, which hopefully we'll see in ARR.
When the easiest part of obtaining a relic takes 5 times as long as the 90% of the process that is meant to be much harder there is something seriously wrong with the content. It should be the other way around. Challenging content should be time consuming, not shit you can play without watching your screen.
It was barely more enjoyable than sitting in Ul'dah spamming the same recipe over and over to level a crafting class and is the perfect example of why DoH/L should have no place in end-game. Sitting there quiet about how shit it was because you see it as a cockblock to slow down people catching up to your relic count isn't going to make the content more fun.
This is true. I only played the game a short time, but the group I joined could not figure out the mechanics to CC and would routinely wipe on normal Ifrit. Even after explaining each phase of each fight, what to do, where not to stand they couldn't get it done. Was extremely frustrating to wipe to CC 9 times out of 10 due to people standing where they shouldn't be or attacking when they shouldn't be. I was only in game three months before servers went down, the only content i cleared was Ifrit (with a pick up how ironic) and skirmish (which was very easy). I never got to fight Garuda, van darnus or moogle. I cannot wait to get off Ragnorok when the game goes retail.
we had very different 3mos experiences lol
Indeed. Was pretty much dead during EST which made it hard to get content done especially since I was behind. I was amazed I managed to get United We Stand done as it seemed no one on the server had gotten past that mission as it was the most popular shout in Ul'Dah. Two hours later you'd hear shouts of, "THEY MAKE MISSIONS TOO HARD, UNITED WE STAND IS TOO HARD, LET'S ALL COMPLAIN TO SE!"
^ So FF players out there couldn't understand the mechanics of CC and movement/spacing? More at 11. Back to you, Jim.
I see a few issues with Nadrojj's situation. Firstly, Ragnarok was backwater from what I understand but he was also looking for party in EST time on a server that was stated to be the official EU server. So you're at least 5-6 hours behind the prime time of that server. I can see why you'd want to get off Ragnarok to that end.
Next, and something I always say to my players when we recruit - You can't cure Stupid. If you got in with bad players, that sucks. If you're better than that, then I'm sure when you do transfer you'll find a group that plays at your level. Bad players will fail for a long time until they are motivated to do better and win. If they never want to do better then it will hold everyone back. I personally find it hard to believe that someone would want to fail on purpose so when someone says "these players are incapable", that's difficult to swallow. I just think it's a problem with motivation among those players. It's not that they're incapable, it's that they don't want to put in the effort. Surely they have the potential to clear the instances in the ONE HOUR time "limit". CC/AV was not supremely hard (it had one difficulty setting: "Normal") so anyone would be hard-pressed to say it was "hard" objectively. I hope you find players that are more motivated as well as skilled going forward!
Lastly, good luck (just for good measure).
