Hate to be a downer, but if this is the way it's going to be from now on (a patch every 1.5 months with little to no info in between and a few fairly disappointing lore articles) I guess I'm just going to stop following the game. Yes, I really want these dungeons to be good but honestly they should be providing some kind of weekly update (even if it's brief as fuck) about changes happening.

So far, whilst the intention is there, everything has been disappointing, and as someone who's been defending the hell out of SE on the official forums (not white knighting, just trying to get people to give them a chance), this kind of bland-ass info with some tiny, barely visible pictures is frankly, pretty crap. It makes me wonder what kind of state these dungeons are going to be in if they don't even have any decent pictures to show off yet.

If it's a dungeon full of chigoes/generic garlean soldiers with one of those stupid walkers at the end for a boss, I guess I'm pretty much going to stop watching the game for a at least a few months.

Lol companies are going to be fail I think, with all the hype its getting it won't live up to expectations. Has SE ever lived up to expectations? I can't remember the last time they did after hyping something up.

Nobody really cares about the lore in this game(yet) People want to see posts about the failures being fixed. I think this info was weaksauce, Campaign type event is the LAST thing this game needs right now especially with the amount of problems on their plate.

I'd like to care about lore, but what's to care about? The only real lore you get is in a newsprint-style article posted outside of the game. For a supposedly scary world, there's no scare; everything is peaceful and tranquil. That's typically not a good way to start a game out nowadays.

I know that everything was peaceful in XI when it started, but that was a decade ago. I know that things started out mostly peaceful even in WoW, but again, there's an established lore behind that game, so you people weren't crying as loud for WAR right off the back. XIV though; there's nothing to tie this into older FFs outside of the typical jobs, chocobos (maybe one?) crystals and the eventual Cid sighting. There has to be lore to fawn over before people can even hope to give a shit.

What else could they make? It takes time to develop the tools that allow you to make interactive dungeon, and we havent seen anything of the sort in the game so far. Maybe 2-3 years down the road, it will happens, but not now.

If it's going to take 2-3 years they're probably fucked, they can't keep this game F2P forever, and with the quality of content in other MMOs people need a reason to hang about (even FFXI had some unique enemies in its dungeon-style areas)

I am constantly amazed at the short-term memory of you people. This is how it goes:

Last week: "battle info from matsui coming next week" (we already new this article was coming this week)

Wednesday: company article gets posted, people go "OMFG I WAITED 4 YEARS FOR DIS?!? LIFE RUINERED", acting as if "this is it".

Thurs/Fri: battle info gets posted, quite possibly the next letter as well like every other week for months now.

What do we learn from this? Nothing of course.

I also hate to be a downer, but they don't have to, nor they "should" give a shit about keeping an extremely small minority up-to-date on the development of the game. You're fine with it, you stick around. You aren't, you get the fuck out and stop posting verbal diarrhea on the forums, the sooner the better. That's the gist of it. They could even shut the game down and not tell us anything for a year while deleting everyone's character since it most likely makes their job easier, but they chose not to do it.

They are not obligated to do anything, and neither are you. The sooner people get it the sooner they can either move on or shut up about it.

As for the company info, pretty much as expected. Too bad i can't read other companies' descriptions on my htc...

You won't hear me say otherwise, this game is doomed to fail. The developer couldn't pinpoint what players liked about ffxi and mmo in general and simply built the wrong game.


I'm still going to wait and see, but considering there is not a single interactive gameplay feature beyond menu based minigame and normal battle, you can't expect much more than that. The character's movement are very limited (no possible platforming, chase), no minigame or puzzle, bland environment (at least, the picture were pretty bland so far), and bosses mechanics will probably be as simple as it get, because they don't any easy way to develop them quickly.

When you call costumer support, and wait 1 hour only to be told to wait another hour...you will be pissed. However, having to wait 2 hours with no sign of life is even worse. Both situation blow, and people will be mad, but that doesnt make them the same. That's why people want lame news over no news.

Sorry if it was misinterpreted (or I worded it badly), I didn't mean to make a "BAWW I QUEEET" thing, I just meant that, if in the future this was going to be the structure of patches it would be difficult to maintain much interest.

Didn't mean to get you irate there Hyan, I know how you do love this game. My main point is that you'd think, given the situation, their posts might be a little bit more revealing (boss preview or something?). Nothing major, but something to whet the apetite, whereas todays post (which is likely to be the only one for that particular dungeon) didn't really explain much of anything.

Yea I was kinda hoping for an explanation of how the dungeons work as far as party size and lockout timers.

I'd understand if we weren't specifically explained that this week we are going to get X and Y information a week or more in advance, nor if the producer hadn't started the bimonthly letter trend months ago.

I think we all get that people dislike the game in its current state, and these people will probably dislike it in its future state. This is like the beta miracle patch on steroids for these people, you'd think they'd know better to let it get the better of them. Hyan made a good point about people following this game, in that if you like the game then you're gonna stick around and see it improve, but if you dislike the game and are sure you will dislike it in the future, why are you following it? Negativity breeds negativity. You'll only never think negatively if you surround yourself in it and wallow in it.

He is making Hyan look reasonable now, which is pretty funny since Hyan was anything but reasonable several months ago. Yeah, everyone wants info on the battle system / job system / game mechanics / core of the game, but slowly turning into the FFFFFFUUUUUUU guy and bashing your head in when they post information unrelated to that, why doesn't everyone just take a step back and see things for what they are.

They're working on the game. They gave a brief summary of what is to come two weeks ago, every flipped their shit last week because they didn't get any new info (why would you even expect new info a week after the letter? especially when they said they were taking the week off for golden week). Still, everyone flipped their shit and I was just watching it all in amazement, like wut?

So yeah, get a fucking grip. I like some parts of the game, I dislike other parts of the game (a lot), and I may stop playing the game if things don't improve. However, things have been improving enough for me to begin playing the game a little more often than I would have otherwise. So, I have faith that things will continue to improve. I am not going to FREAK THE FUCK OUT or make ANGRY TIRADES because I don't get day-to-day updates or week-to-week updates. I dunno, I guess I am more mature than that. I'd like updates but I am not going to rage rage rage if I don't get them when I want them.

So get a grip on reality and dettach your aching anxious hearts from the damn game, and monitor it instead with a little bit of passive hope that they will continue to work to make the game better. I like to call this a "positive outlook" on future possibilities. I guess I can manage to do this because I don't assume to have nor try to offer the FINAL SOLUTIONS to this game.

Reading everyone's chicken little sob stories of rage is really lame. I think you're all a little "too" into the game. Maybe stop following the game and come back at the end of the year or something and see how things are then.
