Personally I expect great things from you kensaki. Don't let me down when the time comes.
Personally I expect great things from you kensaki. Don't let me down when the time comes.
I personally can't understand anybody defending this game on ANY level being that it's been released almost a full year and it's still free to play along with it being completely terrible. Sure, it *might* turn around but it *might* be shutdown too.
Just color me skeptical, SE has never come through especially after hyping the shit out of something. Companies have just as much hype if not more than the battle system revamps and that my friends is scary knowing the history of SE.
I am in believe when I see it mode right now.
They could be great, they could be fail, I was hoping for a little more info about it than "undertake some missions etc." The more hype it gets the more concerned I become though, lol.
I don't see anyone "defending the game on any level". What I see is people telling you and others that complaining all the time about the same things (that have been around for almost 1 year) is useless and only brings negativity.
If people don't like the game and will never like it it's better to just leave and find something else that you actually enjoy.
The only reason to be upset about people bitching is because this really isn't the place for it. This is "comments from the devs" thread and I scroll through 5 pages of bitching before reading one real bit of info. I honestly don't care, I don't read any of it...but it is time consuming and annoying. I played XI for 5 years, had fun, quit when I stopped having fun. I had hope for this game, so I follow it on here to see how the patches are going and how they are fixing things. I will probably pick it up when everything is patched out in 6 months to a year from now. I don't understand coming on this thread to vent when there's half a forum dedicated to just that. I think most of you are benefiting from this section not being modded very heavily at the moment. Hopefully that changes.
You're right. We should just talk about the good points about the game and be positive.
- The graphics look good (although you can't actually enjoy the environment)
EDIT: I suppose I don't see the big deal about "venting" or "making negative comments" on this section. If we are just going to post "Comments from Devs" then this doesn't even need to be open for commenting. Or am I missing something?
I think most people that are angry just realize that no amount of content is going to fix the game for them. Level 50's might not be playing as much because they've either run out of stuff to do or have very little to do but honestly how big is that population?
To me and a lot of other people, Chocobo notes would of been a very big boost. I bet just putting in chocobo's they'll see at least a 1000 player jump in figures. I know at least 10 people who aren't even going to try the game back out until there is chocobo transportation.
How about more talk about the materia system, job system thats been mentioned nearly two months ago that we've never heard a bleep about since. They've spent a fuckton of time hyping up companies from the mini-event to all the lore write up's, I just hope the shit is worth it, I mean it could totally be awesome but I don't think its going to bring people back into the game.
I figured "comments from the devs" could also be used as "lack of comments from the devs" when they fail to deliver the goods. I suppose not, though, although I haven't heard a mod say anything about it (or why it remains unlocked when no comments come in); just a a few people that dislike complaints in general.
That's not the point. The point is that you guys have been saying the same things for 1 year, you got your point across.
Complaining about things that are going to be changed but are still in development isn't going to help anyone and expecting a new team to fix this mess in 6 months is crazy.
And let's add the fact that they had to deal with an earthquake, tsunami and everything that followed and they're still working on this. Find something else to do instead of complaining about lack of info.
Or just use the complaints thread instead of dumping your whining into other discussions.
I've been trying out Rift for the past three days and I have a huge list of things that I don't like at all but you don't see me going into Rift discussions and say how much the game sucks, etc. because I'm not even going to bother with it after the trial is over.
If you're still here complaining after 1 year you're either:
-trolling (game will never recover, SE sucks, etc.);
-still insterested in the game and want to see it succeed.
FF players/fanboys speak with a great deal of passion and conviction about the game. On the other hand many also feel entitled and misguided about their opinions. The game certainly deserved official forums, but the general community just doesn't understand how to discuss, debate, or argue in a constructive manner. They need to grow up, or get educated, or pull their heads outta their asses. Heck, maybe even all three.
Hey I got an idea. How about you all shut the fuck up already? Both sides of the argument.
I'd be happy with the game if they fixed crafting, tuned up difficulty on 50 content to be competitive with other MMO's endgame, gave us a transport system and a delivery system.
It's not like I'm asking for a lot. I'm asking for stuff that has been a standard in other MMO's for years and even FFXI a 8 year old game on the ps2 has.
At it's current state I'm only logging in to do LS sp parties cause I can't stand the current state of crafting and I've done all quests and most missions in the game. Give me more to do that's not leves and I'm happy. And you bet if the battle system changes are bad and they only release 30 dungeons I'll be less than happy. Sure make the game thinking about future players only and neglect current player base but see how much ffxiv ps3 sells if current player base gets burned by you SE and say so to prospective ps3 launch buyers.
Word of mouth sells more games than any ad campaign.
I complain a whole lot, I want to see the game succeed, but if 1.18 is fail I really don't see them digging out of that hole. This patch is make or break for a whole lot of folks. I don't have a lot of hope for 1.18, I don't get my hopes up when it comes to SE.
If it were complaints in response to news that was posted it would be one thing...constant bitching no matter what is happening I feel should be kept to the complaints thread...but I'm no mod and that's just my opinion. I am not defending the game, by the way, the people coming in and white knighting are just as bad as the complainers because they keep them going and start arguments that last 400 pages. Honestly this is the only thread I read in the XIV forums, so my knowledge of the posters that only post there is slim to none unless I knew them from the XI section back in the day. I appreciate the passion...I just wish both sides would calm down a bit and realize it's just a game and it'll get fixed or not, the world will keep on rolling.
There's nothing wrong with agreeing or disagreeing with the topic at hand, but there's a thread specifically for bitching about the game as a whole.
Unless the 30 dungeon gear is handed out like candy it will be a waste of time doing it because you can go from 30 to 50 in two weeks. And people still want levelling to be even faster. Hopefully the dungeons will give some form of currency that you can spend on gear so you can enter a 30 dungeon and save up for rank 50 gear.
Its rare to see a game that has a universal currency for its dungeons; typically each level or tier of dungeon has its own currency, if any. You won't see any level 30 dungeons allowing you to stock currency for level 50 purchases unless they do some sort of weird hodgepodge mixture of a "standard-issue" dungeon currency with some Beastman/Kindred seal currency that extends across all dungeons.
I have no idea how that would work anyway: what, would higher level dungeons simply award more of the currency in question? Would it be some sliding scale curve or something?
complaining is neither here nor there for me personally, but this thread is really the only active vehicle to discuss this game at the moment. plus, is it not reasonable for players to gripe in their growing impatience over something so significant?
Doing quests reward you with gear now; shitty gear, but gear. If companies said they'll reward you with tokens to be exchanged for powerful gear, you'd be onto something. At best, it sounds like another half-baked set of rewards for new content.
Actually, that's a question: outside of seasonal events, have they even once made an announcement about a quest chain or anything-non-easter-or-valentines-day-themed that offered set piece items or anything powerful enough to warrant one of their news-worthy journal blogs about?
