Yep, only gamepad UI for the PS3 version will be available.

That's unfortunate, but also reasonable considering how much time they are spending to make the PS3 version viable.
Please tell me that they do not have ANOTHER gay marriage thread up.Any other LGBT going to quit FFXIV if we don't get same-sex marriage?
EDIT: They do not, in fact, have a gay marriage thread up.
They have two. Also, Legacy = Unfair and Level Down.
-.- I'm going to go have lunch, go for a walk, then hit the hay and play beta in the morning while the forums continue to humiliate themselves.
There are like 3 now.
This is embarassing. I'm all for same-sex marriage in the game but these people are just retarded. :/
Well there's ONE good thread on there now. Anyone with access should go look at it.
I'm shutting myself off of BG now because I want to scream and laugh and holler and I'm gonna get in trouble. ;_;
GET HYPE FOLKS D: GET HYPE
I mentioned that IGN had a spot during it's daily The Fix about ARR and now I saw that Joystiq has a feature on it too. Get that media attention. It's not a lot, but it's a start and far more than 1.0 had before launch.
This goes beyond a reasoning failure and is actually outright dishonest.
1.0 launch stamina system encompassed EVERYTHING. Spells, weaponskills, abilities, and your erstwhile auto-attack command.
TP system encompasses weaponskills, and... nothing else.
That is the truth. You know it, I know it, the entirety of the board knows it.
(o.O ) Why pretend otherwise?
EDIT: You have been playing devil's advocate since 2.0's announcement a year and a half ago. At some point, senor, you have to let the snark go, and be reasonable in your criticisms.
Current battle design is like stamina but it only applies to WS. The old stamina use to be used by everything from skills to magic too. So I guess its not as bad as 1.0 stamina.
I guess this is something of balancing? You can either spam TP and have no WS, spam MP and have no spells, spam abilities and have everything on timer, or use them wisely and have the right tools available at the right time. It works for me, kinda like how Death Knights (back in the days of WotLK) had 3 things keeping their spammage on CD. Dunno how they play now.
It'll be easier to criticize or praise the system once we've had a taste of what it can do in mid-level PVE and PVP. I think its too early to tell how things are going to feel, what with the lazziaz fare feeling that severely under-tuned early betas can bring.
It still is essentially the same thing, just with tweaks that 1.0 never had. I said it before, but the way how each skill used a certain portion of your bar made it feel a bit like FFXIII's atb bar but functioning at a snails pace and also hindered by the constraints of TP/MP. Still have 4 betas to go through though so the chance for changes is still hella high.
Not everything in 1.x stamina-land used stamina anyways. I'm just not seeing the point in separating it into just MP and TP now (edit: based on what we know and under the assumption it doesn't change the following). Mages don't use TP at all in combat. Job'd melees don't typically get spells. So this is just a Paladin and (maybe?) Bard thing. Otherwise it's just one bar, ignore the other.
Not saying 1.x stamina was good. But it's not too far from what we have seen so far. What could have been. *shrug*
You can cross-class abilities though, so I'm presuming jobs with more synergies would end up having to manage more than one resource, although perhaps only in certain circumstances. Since we're going to end up with a bunch of jobs eventually, I think it also makes it simpler to balance going forward too, since you can tweak TP without accidentally breaking something MP based and vice versa. Otherwise unless that one resource behaves really differently depending on class (which is confusing), I can sort of see a situation where a melee class becomes the preferred healer in certain/all situations, or a caster becoming an ideal tank... something like that. Not that that isn't kinda interesting... but imagine the OF whining. =p
(Disclosure: Only played XIV before jobs got introduced, might have no idea what I'm talking about.)
By the way, did we pick up in the vids how TP works for now exactly (recover on hit, recover OOC, recover in combat)? I remember in the gamepad vid Yoshida fired some weaponskills off, but I'm at work now and don't remember what the bars looked like after that.
Job update made most things not able to be used cross-class (rather, revamped most abilities). Jobs themselves can only splash 5? abilities from 2 other classes, depending on what the job is. Melee typically didn't use MP (Monk drained MP for elemental fists, Bard could cross a couple Conjurer spells), mages didn't use TP at all.
It is impossible for me to refute your stupid, wrong statement without breaking NDA. Actually, I can answer this.

Notice how, unlike XI and XIV 1.0, TP is a resource with which you begin a battle at full capacity.
Notice how, unlike XI and XIV 1.0, you do not earn TP from attacks, but simply by allowing extra time to pass.
Notice how, unlike XI and XIV 1.0, "weaponskills" are not actions that require a buildup of resources from successful attacks completed, but that you can simply fire them off right at the start of the battle.
Gee, what is a word for a resource that is consumed by actions and automatically replenishes by itself over time? I'd like to call it stamina but the bar says "TP" next to it! So confusing!
For the record, I never had a problem with the stamina system in the first place; 1.0 had much more serious issues. But call a spade a spade... TP is simply stamina renamed. Even MP is much more stamina-like than the other two FF MMOs.
P.S. Sprint is not a weaponskill.
