Current Plans for World Transfers
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...orld-Transfers
The Square Enix Account part -"anyone who possesses a Square Enix Account to participate"- could possibly be a typo and they might have meant anyone with a FFXIV account, if not that would pretty much be an Open Beta.We wanted to briefly discuss the current plans for selecting new worlds and world transfers for A Realm Reborn. Once the global data centers are set up for A Realm Reborn, we are planning the following for world transfers.
- In the event that you don't complete the transfer procedure, you will be transferred to a pre-determined world.
- In the event you complete the transfer procedure, you can select from a list of worlds you can move to and will be transferred to the world of your choice.
In order to eliminate any concerns about being transferred to a world you didn’t want to move to or being separated from your friends, we will be keeping the transfer procedure open for a long period of time as well as making various announcements to ensure that everyone is aware and can go where they like.
For Beta Test phase 3, fundamentally we are planning to allow anyone who possesses a Square Enix Account to participate in testing, so it will be possible to make contact with your friends from within the game.
We will be preparing thorough details regarding this whole process so that there is no confusion, and will be announcing them at a later date.
Still, that's a good confirmation for everyone who at least had a faint whiff of interest in the game pre-2.0.
Since you can choose to keep your progress from phase 4 on, are they going to allow that for fresh servers too or just ones that allow lvl 50s?
Confirmed typo. Anyone who has a FFXIV account, active at the end of 1.0 or not, can participate in phase 3.

FFS, SE has too many freakin login's for their various sites; it's all the same ID/Password so this should all be freaking linked... Found my way to the account management site and it shows this: Sep. 3, 2010 FINAL FANTASY XIV Registered. It hasn't been active since the original CE time ran out, but the above sounds like I'm at least golden for Beta P3, right?
Awesome, thanks. F14 Lodestone says I don't have a character, so I don't think I'll need to worry about the server transfer thing, or have a 1.0 character to test, but I'll keep an eye on it. P3 should give me enough time to test the game, on this rig, and upgrade it, if need be, before retail.
Did you guys know that the optimal amount of time for hitting max level in an MMO is two years?
(o.O ) It's got to be true. I read it on the OF.
(>o.O)> You whiny casual folks wanting to hit level cap in a couple of months (or less) just do not properly appreciate the genre.
Content should be something that takes you years to finish, by the way. (<o.o) Like Salvage. I have learned in my perusal of the forums this morning that Salvage was the single greatest piece of game design in all of MMO history. It took me by surprise, and made me think hard about myself, and the decisions I have made.
On my Ventrilo server, for example, Salvage has heretofore been a forbidden word, a word of death, pain, and misery, punishable by explosive outbursts and nigh-endless strings of expletives regarding Skirmish and Citadel Chel, to say nothing of the retarded rats in Arrapago, from yours truly. But now, right this very moment, I am turning over a new leaf.
not gonna lie, it took me six years to hit 75 in XI.
I was extremely casual during that time. Afterward I took 3 jobs to 75 in like 6 months.
Probably didn't help that my first job was THF >.>
Yanno, when it was first implemented, I thought Salvage was a great thing because it 'only' took me three to four months to get the items that I really wanted out of it, whereas the RDM Hat that I really wanted from Dynamis took me four years. Dear god.
Mythics? Whazzat? *covers ears*
If it makes you feel any better, I never went for the body-piece since I was broke beyond all repair to even try affording one. So I settled for the Usukane hands/legs/feet.
lolPUP
Could've also gone for the Morgans, but yeah, too much competition and no money. I struggled after the Dynamis RDM Hat for so long because as long as I participated in LS events, it was (relatively) free-of-charge.
I know this post is in jest, but this struck upon what I think some people are trying to say but aren't really saying. We don't want content that takes forever to finish. We want content that stays relevant. Not XIV's train of Darkhold-Primals-AV/CC-etc where one tended to make the previous iterations obsolete or undesirable. This also kind of tackles the issue of longevity (finishing the content in a week and bitching for more for the following months) but that's probably not worth bitching about.
Granted I didn't get the chance to get AV/CC loot or anything that came after so I could just be crying foul at the first half of that "content" train.
Fucking salvage. I went 4/5 Marduks pretty quickly but that god damn Dekka. What a prude, never put out my damn marduk shoes.
I will admit though, I probably enjoyed salvage the most out of all the FFXI endgame events. HATED Dynamis until we tried low manning it with 10 BLM, 1 RDM, 1 THF and 2 COR. Now that was entertainment.
Anyone else ever have "that one time" in Dynamis where some guy falls asleep outside of a party (or with party lead and no BLMs) when something amazing drops with less than 5 minutes left?
50 DKP minus.
Well hopefully with the new raiding system people won't be up so long that they fall asleep at the keyboard.
Blog update.

See, that position I can understand, and even agree with a bit. ( O.o) I myself would not mind trying out a more tiered progression system, kinda like how it goes in Tera, but I am open to all the possibilities.
I just don't think that most of the folks on the beta forums are this reasonable, though. I don't think they actually understand what reason means. x_x
