Ah... Yoshi-P... that man is like a cup of warm coffee. So relaxing.

While I can't say I'm familiar with the Gear Score concept some have mentioned, I know Trion basically broke dungeons/raids down into minimum accuracy requirements for DDs and toughness for tanks. Might've been something for healers, but I only played warrior. Either way, if you didn't have those minimums, you couldn't join the LFG queue. Only way you could get in undergeared was if a group willingly invited you. So, while a bare bones approach, I'd say similar could apply. For the sake of EXP parties or quests, a lenient relation to a likely associated level could also be done. So, if you're level 30 and doing a level 30 quest, maybe you could get away with it in level 25 or higher gear, but if your primary role stats average below that, no bueno. So, no need for super gear, nor would such people get arbitrarily broken into pro/scrub factions. If someone with good gear does join a queue to see their resulting party doesn't meet their standards, I also liked what Tera did with the deserter flag, which basically locked you out of queuing for a bit because you bailed on the group.
I never thought about the gear score thing in the context of the duty finder... that could be a bit of an issue if it isn't implemented properly. But I'll trust Yoshida to do the right thing.
And ker-lock, goes that horribly troll-ish thread on the Beta forum.
Sad, but somewhat true.
No matter what SE decides to do with gear score for Duty Finder, the playerbase will eventually gravitate towards expecting the higher end gear to do most things even if it can be done in less. The FFXIV community already proved that concept with it's stance on viable classes/jobs for content.
For those that play(ed) DCUO, this is kind of how their duty finder works. Yoshi-P said somewhere that their goal was to implement it flawlessly because if it is not done so then players will never use it. This is what happened in DCUO. Despite making changes to the duty finder, it was so terrible in the beginning that no one used it after they adjusted it. Actually...other than duos, I don't think I ever even used it.
I didn't see this mentioned elsewhere, but the new Ul'dah music is pretty epic. It sounds like ending credits music for a children's fantasy movie where they show each main character in their happy ending with the name of who portrayed them.
Direct link.
Song is at 17:50. Quality is shitty and crackly for some reason.
Seems a little loud and fanfare-ish for idle town music...
Has that Immmortal Flames feeling, liked it.
The music doesn't sound all that bad, sounds pretty epic O_o
For first 3 times you go to town... them mute the BGM for next 5 years of you playing the game, except for expansions.
(' ' ) Music makes me want to stand up, grab a sword, and ride off into the sunset, damnit. So glad I chose Ul'Dah for my home town, especially now that they removed Limsa's Navigator's Glory.
Going to miss so much of the old music. (>x_x) I was so happy that they retained the old boss battle theme... I still don't know why they have not released it on a soundtrack.
Inb4 it's a ploy to get people out of Ul'dah. Personally, I also think it's a little too 'epic'.
It does feel a bit too... grand for town music. It feels more appropriate for a cutscene of its unveiling/reveal. I do love it nonetheless.
Think the song will be okay for city music depending on how they cut for looping. Remove the beginning part and it's a bit more understated and ambient.
I wonder what the night mix sounds like.
