A) japanese don't give a shit
B) they're not on consoles
C) they're not Final Fantasy related
SE has nothing to worry about on that front.
The only practical goal I can think of is to build a stable, not-embarassing, somehow luckster "HD gen" MMO than can last about a few years cashing on console players and FF lovers.
They made mistakes and such, so it's not a matter of conquering the market starting from shit. It's about getting investments back, make FF11 users cross over to FF14 (somehow) and land a decent online title on ps3.
Nope
Nope and lol suspended again. 2 weeks. I hate those people so much. :/
I might have gotten a tad inflammatory. lol
Tera's combat requires you to aim every attack like in a slasher game and positioning matters, 14 is still about tabing around to target stuff. So I dont see how they can even come close to that.
When they were releasing info back when the game wasn't even in beta yet it seemed like positioning had some sort of importance, not sure what happened to all that <.<
I hope they had some sort of strategy to the game that doesn't involve tossing xx number of classes/jobs at NMs till they die.
With the removal of the stamina gauge they kinda need to come up with something else to keep it interesting and unique.
Eh? It does have some importance atm. You can incapacitate different parts of the mobs. Using the proper WS in the proper position (front, back, right, left; amazing I know) allows you to target specific parts, i.e. limbs, horns, shells, etc.
It's incredibly lackluster compared to what was imagined when they made a big to-do about it, but it's there.
Well, Matsui did comment on that somewhere, he said they'll look into making use of the environment/directional attacks once they're done with the initial overhauls (or something similar...).
That's the point. They promised big things, and like with everything else in this game it turned out like that. Not that this matters anymore right now. Let them do what they can to save this game and make it as playable as possible, but let's not expect any nice mechanics like in other promising MMOs because S-E can't pull that off.
Yeah. I was just pointing out that it wasn't scrapped, it just simply wasn't up to par with what players were expecting.
I'm on the opposite side of the fence with you here though. Let's expect them to implement nice mechanics like other promising MMOs because they can pull it off. They're quite capable of it, which is all the more reason to hold it against them if they don't.
"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —The George Doubyuh
And what's disturbing is that people want them to do it again. The closer they are to implementing the new combat the more accurate info they can give us about it. With little to no assumptions based on their early concepts that may or may not work as described. That's the point. They promised big things, and like with everything else in this game it turned out like that.
I hope that blueprint didn't come too early, although I don't think so. They're far enough at this stage.
Anyway, in this particular q&a they stated that once the basic groundwork is finished, they'll work on more complex features, positioning included. It hasn't been scrapped (although it might).
I am also mildly humored that some of you think to implement nice new mechanics you need to pull off some huge technical feat. It certainly helps of course.
