Is phase 3 gonna bring the 1.23+ battle system back cuz fuck this one...
I for one look foward to testing the shit out of the gamepad.
How does understanding that grinding is against what the devs want, and trying to explain that to others all of a sudden self righteous, when you agree with the creator of the damn game? This is a forum people share opinions, that's what its here for, The only person being self righteous atm is you.. think about it, so quick to cast out labels, you are doing the exact same thing you said you are so against. Especially when it doesn't freaking matter, preach on brother..
It does effect your game play, since the more people open world grinding like idiots the less there are for other content (though you could argue that these people aren't people you'd wanna play with anyway). The reason for no open world grinding is just to avoid people wasting their time playing a game like it's 2004 and everyone is doing relevant content. Not grinding for levels in order to do something that people should be doing anyway.
Anyways confirmed again just now from dev post, they are not changing anything when it comes to xp, basically saying ARR was not designed for users to level up on monsters out in the fields. So lets put this to rest lol
Also about the 3rd phase changes, it is a bit scary, but then again think about what they already did in 2 years. Some of those changes are very minor.
I really hope they change that buy/sell interface... Shits fuckin archaic.
Edit: Actually no, it's more like it's two different interfaces fighting each other on screen.
I keep telling myself that the vendor screen is just a placeholder. Seems very out of place
Exactly. I think that's a small problem. I feel like they went just a bit too far with the whole "grinding on outside mobs isn't the best way to level" thing. Not only is it not the best way to level (I'm all for that), but it's all the way at the other end of the spectrum.
I honestly don't really mind. Between quests and the hunting log I find myself killing stuff all the time.
XI wasn't/isn't any better though. Most of the time stuff either doesn't aggro because you're too high or if it does you're likely dead. And if you do get aggroed by something you can manage it's never worth it.
The only difference is that in XIV you can easily escape.
It's true however that the game does seem to encourage leveling multiple classes but I honestly don't think it's a bad idea. You'll have to do it anyway if you want to go anywhere towards the end. We'll probably have a better idea when Phase 3 comes around.
Step 1 enter some sort of fate like battle
Step 2 aggro something that can aoe
Step 3 be high lvl and have a bunch of aoe mobs, and stand near fate npc
Step 4 ???
Step 5 Profit ლ(ಠ.ಠლ)
there are a few things that are archaic, actually about some interface functions... , makes you wonder why you gotta click so much to do stuff!
Making a open world level grinding as viable option will introduce those problem
-Spot bottlenecking. I never experience any MMORPG that has equal efficiency for leveling on all areas per level range. Lets take example for 1.0. On level 30 onwards, there are so little camps that viable to camp on. on 30- Diremites , 35-40 Raptors , 40 onwards - natalan. If they decide to make it viable, they must put effort to balance the variety, exp/hour and class output
-Distraction from content. From previous experience, by enabling OW leveling grind, usually it makes players skip content and more focused to get level instead
IMO, open world content/experience should be shifted from exp-objective, to particular activity objective, such as spirit bonding, or fill hunting log.
Have they said when they will open up other cities, classes, jobs, or up the leveling cap? Could be something for phase 2 if not otherwise specified.
