Yes some changes are needed. Sometimes you need to take X or Y path, and I understand and accept why XIV 2.0 is nothing like XI-2 would be. But you don't always NEED to take X or Y path, sometimes you can offer both. All i'm saying is that while I 100% understand why many peoples love the new mmo standard, I think that it wouldn't be too much of a problem to offer strong "elite" mobs that would reward grouping. Again, if I agree a lot of OF/BF'ers are just dumb, the amount of people that want group grinding should mean something.
I already got all I need regarding friends and gf thank you very muchYou think grinding on crabs for 6 hours will be beneficial? No one (sane) gives a crap. No one cares if you'll meet your new best friend or the love of your life. There are other ways to interact with people, other ways to level, hell, other ways to have fun. That said, nothing like good group xp session to get to know people when it comes to mmorpgs.
I spent long years playing XI, but somehow I also played years of Lineage2 which is as you probably know a very VERY different kind of mmorpg. As far as i'm concerned It's not only or really a XI nostalgia, it's more an oldschool mmo nostalgia. If XI hadn't ruined you eternally you could jump into other games and maybe even like another method. But you want what you want so you can be in your little bubble and never change. NEVER CHANGE!
You tell me. Aren't you BG "regs" always complaining about the OF/BF zerg wishing for outdoor group xp ? Give me a fresh server limited to ToAU or Goddess expansion and a few hundreds people to come with me and i'll be the happiest gamer !A lot of people loved XI style grinding? Are these people who never plan to go back and play XI like it's 2004? Are you sure?
I am in a minority, especially here, and I definitely don't feel "victimized". I mean mmos are serious business obviously, but not THAT serious business. I think that what I wanted to say is that although some OF/BFers (i'm not one of them btw) are slightly retarded, it doesn't mean SOME of the points they make aren't understandable.Pot, kettle, etc. The only reason you say shit like this is because you're in the minority and probably feel like you're being victimized. It's funny to read at least.
I get your point BG, and why you're so happy with the turn XIV 2.0 is taking, but you don't have to be retarded to not see it as universal truth.
Modest mouse is a pretty good band.
Funny how when I said this two months ago, you fell all over yourself demanding that I Provide Proof Or STFU. Perhaps I have missed the official clarification that has caused you to change your position on the subject.
Don't worry, there's still time for you to backpedal and declare it a ridiculous idea.
Spider-Dan is like a squirrel who knows exactly where he buried his acorns and when to retrieve them for maximum deliciousness.
But did he dedicate 12 years of his life to the katana?
Holy shit I don't see how the purists are complaining that there's no way to party grind level.
Enter Toto-rak/Manor/Tam-Tara and fucking run the dungeon grinding mobs > leave the dungeon > repeat ENDLESSLY HOLY SHIT FUCKING BALLS
Of course I'm standoffish. I just interacted with one person who was of the opinion that even if something didn't affect him, the options of others need to be limited in order to adhere to his subjective opinion (I mean, are you serious? That's like the height of ignorance) and two other people that were too rockish to get that. To wit:
I should know better than to respond to Spider-Dan, but I'll give you just this one...
You do realize that you stated your personal speculation if it were fact, and had no source to back it up. I just now said "because blah and blah, it sounds like blah blah..." This does not exactly equate doing a 180.
Originally, I was leaning towards the possibility that it would carry over because that vague statement on the beta roadmap was the only thing we had to go on. Now, in light of a couple months worth of developer comments and Yoshi P interviews that have contradicted these hopes (namely the one about them considering early access for players during Phase-4), my outlook on that possibility has dwindled... However, I would still make the same comment if you came around now saying "Beta progress won't be carried over" as if you actually knew something no one else did.
That was the point, and congratulations for taking it out of context to make yourself feel validated.
The lady dost protest too much, methinks.
I asked Grey a very clear question. He answered, and I responded to his answer.
Then you came in answering a question no one asked. Good job. Now whine about how other people are stupid for you not reading critically.
I wonder if they made a instanced dungeon where a bunch of colibri would just respawn over and over again if these people would stfu. Add some NPC that would allow them to stay in until they want to leave, and then reward them with something dumb like wizard cookies depending on how many mobs they kill. Lower the amount of EXP gained to a rate that's lower then the normal quest-grind/fate rate, but they would gain enough EXP where they can be their XI purist selves.
The only reason people want XI EXP spots is so that they can be lazy and not move around as much, and just mindlessly kill shit. That or XI nostalgia clouds their judgement. I don't think they really care where they EXP at, as far as I'm concerned in XI these people just flocked to the camp that would give them the most XP in their mob grinding style.
