Major changes will most likely happen in phase 1+2, so if you got suggestions, and can fight the spam of crazy trolls on the forums and be seen by the dev team, you could potentially help with the game maybe...!

Why is it that so many people in the beta forums, seem to think that what we get to test is the most recent build of a game? and that no changes to the game can take place until a phase is done?

Why is it that no one realizes even when Yoshi said it himself, that they develop parallel builds. That when they say something is going to be included for phase 3, that it could have already been done on the phase 3 build way back during alpha..

I keep seeing posts like oh they gonna need more time between phases to fix stuff. Just because we dont see it the current buld doesnt mean its not being done.. or already done.

In fact most time the build we see is so freaking old and was just a good stopping point of a stable build to test certain things, where they even add place holders for stuff to avoid spoilers also.

This irks me....=/

Yea but, the cries and the panicking, oh noes there is so much to do and change its gonna be delayed!!. How can they possibly update phase 1 to phase 3 is soo little time! lol

Most likely the gaps in phases are for internal testing -> deploying to servers -> updating the update servers/the launcher stuff etc -> testing it all to make sure nothing outside of somewhat normal operation doesn't fuck up horribly -> mithra porn time -> release phase ? files for download for people to play on.
I don't mind the delays.. I need time... yes time for money, to upgrade my PC *drool* 60FPS+ with fraps on at 2560x1440 on maximum settings....!

After 1.0? Suck it up tbh. Rather this than "everything will be alright guys let's just wait patiently until phase 4" (which still happens lol).

True, but in 1.0 alpha and beta there was no such communication from the devs about any changes that may or may not happen, so its still a huge change. Back then anyone saying oh its going to be fine lets just wait was purely without any feedback.

Well from what I read, most of the feedback was pretty specific, not sure where the vague is coming from, and its def more than a handful. Not saying we should not have doubt but, its def not the same as 1.0.

This would explain why everything they mention is coming phase 3 and nothing for phase 2 that wasn't already planned. I can't even think of why they need to wipe characters for phase 2, everyone I speak to is going to mostly skip it for that reason as they don't want to play/test the same content again.

Those people seem to forget that it is still a test, not a head start. Just because they haven't mentioned any changes to occur in Phase 2 doesn't mean there won't be any. That aside, with the addition of the controller I imagine they also want to see how smooth the game can run with it, from the beginning, and what are the issues that will arise due to it. Targeting and menu navigation alone will most likely will have it's quirks that they'll need feedback on.

Same thing here. I am actually looking forward to playing with a controller. It will be the determining factor as to whether or not I buy the PS3 version. Yes, it will be the same content, but I am hoping it feels different through the use of the controller.

Plus Grand Companies and other quests. It mentions Private Chocobos but the pessimist in me doubts that this refers to chocobos as party members. Then again, without the "party members" functionality, Private Chocobos seems like a pointless feature to denote as being added in Phase 2. In 1.0, you got them via Grand Companies as an exchange item, and they're advertising that already.

Chocobos as PT members seems like a worthwhile-enough test item that they'd want to get it out the door now rather than later.

New Playable Race Confirmed!

Hello all!

Fernehalwes here again for a very special edition of the Developers’ Blog.

I’ve worked hard the past few months to bring you exclusive coverage of never-before-seen content, and while a lot of it has been breathtaking, not all of it has been, what you might call, mind-blowing. So, last night, I waited until everyone had gone back home and then started digging through the art team’s folders on the project data servers... Half an hour later, I finally struck the mother lode.

Boy, am I going to pay for this...

You may recall back when Yoshi-P used official player polls to find out what race should be added to the list of playable characters. It turned out that there was a lot of support for both the rabbit-like Viera and croco...gator...lizard-like Bangaa from FINAL FANTASY XII and the Ivalice series.

However, instead of deciding on the Viera and incurring the fiery wrath the Bangaa crowd, or selecting the Bangaa and forever alienating the Viera crowd, it appears the dev team has decided to take the best of both worlds...and create the Viangaa!

Here’s a rough translation:

Bangaa (More powerful than a Roegadyn) + Viera (More elegant than a Bangaa) = The beautiful, yet fierce Viangaa!

Physical Appearance
- Taller and more sophisticated than an Elezen but with a build sturdier than a Roegadyn
- Customizable ear length, snout length, skin color, and “package” size

Basic Characteristics
- Hail from the Farreach, leading many to take up residence in the city-state of Sharlayan.
- Have excellent negotiating skills (store prices are 10% lower)
- Movement speed is 1.2 times faster than other races
- They have an extremely musky odor which other animals detest
.............Chocobos and other living mounts will not allow Viangaa to ride them
.............All field monsters will aggro
- Skilled at both the bow and magic (starting bonuses to DEX and INT)
- Extremely conservative. Conversation with other races is strictly forbidden.
.............If chat window is used, a Viangaa assassin will be sent to stalk the player.


I can’t wait to think up the naming conventions for these guys!
