Well since they're already working on things planned, and most if not all the questions being submitted by players are probably going to be about things not currently planned / being implemented. So, logically, of course they're going to give "we will look into it" answers, or wait until after the battle revisions and see if its still a problem, or no we won't be doing this currently, ect.

The whole themed player Q&A seems to be another way of surveying the player base for ideas / opinions, while simultaneously giving the players a bone of information to chew on to tide them over a bit.

    Edit:

Also seems to be more community rep directed for the forum posters. They said they're combing the threads for questions and they submit these to the developers to be answered. So, there you go as well. The lodestone forums are a cesspool so all the questions being asked are shitty or half-shitty with a few good ones.

Way back when it used to be if you succeeded and hit 100% you would never hit 0 durability - you would only hit 100%/0 on a failure. It was retarded of them to take that away and it was actually a pretty good system like that.

I have been playing since the phase before open beta and it has never been like that.

You used to be able to hit 100% / 0 dura and complete the synth.

It makes sense for the synth to fail with 100% progress and 0% durability. It happens in real life, products are mass produced and completed but when a quality check is performed some of the products simply aren't good enough and don't make it to sale. It's annoying when it happens in-game, but it certainly makes sense.

There's some good questions in the gathering Q&A but of course you'll get many bad ones too. I see no one is asking questions about the materia, even I forgot. The dev post will probably talk about the crafting side of it rather than the gathering side.

I don't want everything that's in real life to be in a game. I don't think a supposedly crafting-centric game needs to have last-second drama in hitting 100% yet failing. There's enough tense moments when you're sitting on 8 durability and are praying for that big 30% on a valuable synth.

lol the mini game for crafting and gathering is stupid in itself, really wish they wouldn't of went that route. As long as they see craft/gathering as their own classes I can never see it changing much.

Just a terrible system overall that tried to be different just for the sake of trying to be different. They tried really hard to make this such a complex system but it just blew up in their faces, very few people like it, its just too damn slow.

A lot of those crafting abilities suck, the HQ system is pretty retarded. I really really doubt the materia system can fix all the flaws with the crafting system.

Trying to make your own shitty opinion to apply for everyone else gets tiring after the Nth time.

I can throw around brilliant generalizations as well! Most people like the system, yet get tired of it quite fast due to lack of variety and nonexistant economy that doesn't provide additional carrots to aim for (like getting wealthy).

Q&A every few weeks sounds good. I agree with most of you, though, in that the XI team's way of making varied and more informative ways to say "LOL NO" to 75% of the questions is much better than "we'll look into it".

Oh please defend their shitty minigame for me, I can minimize and hit square with my ps3 controller on standard synthesis when skilling up while watching youtube videos or reading forums and never fail the synth unless its a higher synth than my level where I actually have to pay attention in whats going on. The minigame didn't solve botting, it added a completely unnecessary mechanic to something that should be quick and fast to synth. You would have a solid argument if the minigame effectively countered botting but it doesn't.

Even a lot of the masochists over on the lodestone forums don't even like the minigame, its just terrible. I would completely support a crafting system where a minigame was involved if you wanted to HQ shit or improve x item by y amount if you succeed but forcing a minigame on run of the mill synths is borderline retarded and bad design.

A better craft system would have been instant synths but you can't HQ
a minigame for HQ synthing or some sort of temper/improve item function that has risks involved where if you fail you could end up with negative stats on the item and the item cannot be used again for temper/improving.

See how easy that was? I just made a terrible craft system a 1000x better.

    It's called Hasty Hand.

And theres not much wrong with the crafting aspect of the game. If you don't enjoy it, don't do it. A lot of people like the minigames.

Just another dope that can't understand the benefits to the system once you stop trying to mindlessly grind ranks and actually work on making items that aren't going to get NPC'd, tossed, or handed in for a leve.

Can anybody explain the mob "levels" to me? Is it based off of physical levels or something? I can kill a level 20 creature as a level 9 sentinel. My physical level is 21 so maybe that's it? Is it just HP/MP based when it comes to mob levels? Also, where are the people on Saronia? QQ

You must have just never noticed it. Before if you were at 99% and 1 durability, any successful standard/bold/rapid would yield 0 durability loss. If you were at 2 durability, you could only lose 0 or 1 durability from a success. I remember when they patched this because I bitched so much doing my leves the next day while I failed like 8 synths I would have otherwise finished with the old system.

In regards to the thread I opened about having the FFXIV Config moved into the game.

All really great points here and we submitted your concerns to the dev. team. They informed us that they are aware that this is a large problem and in order to add an in-game configuration tool they will need to fix the core programming-related data first. The dev. team wanted us to let you know that they will take care of it but cannot give a specific time frame at the moment.

That's a lot of core programming fixing across the board.

Not surprising, SE can't program a PC game worth a shit.

Does anyone have a list of how many of the planned and discussed "fixes" also involve core programming fixes? Obviously there's a difference between something that just takes a lot of work, and something that takes rewriting the code from the ground up, but it seems that more of SE's planned fixes lean towards the latter. Hell, mailboxes are clearly affixed to the latter.

Something about classes/weapons was posted on the JP forums, anyone wanna take a crack at translating it?
