Have they mentioned anywhere whether they intend to continue the weekend-only testing into Phase 3, and if so, when they plan to keep it up full time?
any link to the latest roadmap?
The roadmap itself hasn't changed so the one on the Lodestone is still valid; the latest concrete news I'm aware of is that the Phase 2 ends after this weekend's test.
Well the opposite happens, too; you have biased people who love a game that will hype the shit out of the smallest of "features". The point isn't to focus on the negative -OR- the positive, its to make sure that SE is injecting their own promotions into the story. They, as a company, are lackluster and lazy when it comes to marketing, and its burned them in the past. A CGI trailer isn't going to do shit this time around. A few free beta keys through a twitter account is a drop in the bucket.
Normally I'd agree on the CGI trailer part but after the reception for the one at the end of 1.0...
I will qualify with, 1.0 at release was shit.
I thought 1.23 was fun and if I didn't think that I wouldn't be waiting it out to see if Phase 3 will be fun.
Personally, if all I had played was release/stamina 1.0 and I played Alpha/P1-2 of Beta, I would not even be giving this game a second chance.
Also, take it from a pro - just say no to TESO.
All I played was stamina 1.0, I think 2.0 has way more potential. Not playing up to 1.23 did not deter me from wanting to give 2.0 another chance at all, I have nothing invested like level 50 characters etc. I guess different strokes for different folks.
Stamina 1.0 to 2.0 is kind of like opposite ends of the spectrum but missing the mark entirely. There are a lot of issues I'm not fond of.
This is supposed to be magically fixed in Phase 3, so I'm hoping that this is the case.
I'm also hoping we have access to jobs, but I don't read enough anymore to really know. If not, then some mega lols are incoming.
Lol I doubt anything will get magically "fixed", balancing will obviously help even out the usefulness of abilities, as well as the limit break system that should encourage non spammy gameplay. I hope its not as simple as they describe. But yea, people looking for a drastically different system in phase 3 are gonna be disappointed.
Phase 3 is still capped at 35 as far as we know. With the cap that low there's no point in adding jobs to the mix right now as you'd have 2 abilities at best.
Wether old characters keep their jobs or not is a completely different thing.
Im just happy theres one more ph2-weekend cause I really got into it on sunday. have to say Im surprised how much I liked it. stopped ffxi back in 2008, tried 1.0 beta for one day and never bothered again.
the constant spell-interrupts on conj is extreeeemely annoying (and people were constantly bitching in shout) but its doable. bitches havent tried tanking in ffxi with utsu:ichi (pre-cast ftw)
Spell interrupt from regular hits needs to go for sure. Dying because of rng preventing you getting a cure off like 3 times in a row really sucks.
Well there is always 3 solutions to constant spell interrupts.
1. They can program it like wow, where instead of an interrupt, you get a pushback, say 2 sec cast, gets added 1sec for first pushback hit, then a 2nd pushback would be .5sec, then next would be .25sec, then after that its not interpretable (mainly for pvp where you get spam hit aka rogues)
2. You can time your casting after an attack.
3. You can mash the spell like a madman, so no matter what, you will cast eventually no matter the randomness of attacks.
Plus there are additional abilities to help deal with that sort of thing. It can only get "easier" once the other abilities get unlocked by 50 and such!
I don't know what stuff you guys were fighting, but once you get past lv15, spell interrupts are rarely an issue.
They need to just implement spell pushback. There's no reason for such an archaic mechanic; it wasn't even in any previous FF titles to begin with, so there's no half-justifiable "Final fantasy feeling" excuse to use for it.
I was referring to XI when I said that, but yeah. XI stole it from EQ, much like so many (nearly all) of their concepts. It was in no FF prior to that one. Mages just got the shit knocked out of them, same as any other time.
