Edit: Bah.
Not region locked but you won't see as many players from around the world as before because most will stick to their region. However you can play with people from different servers with the Content Finder.
Best thing is that a server will say "US" and not a single japanese person will click it!
Thank Thor
That new battle BGM they demoed was good stuff.
There is going to be a bloodbath around these parts if there isn't any new information to keep people calm during this wait-for-June bit.
It ain't gonna be pretty. >_>
Sure its a stupid question..but how will they tell if you have the collectors ed already? Dont think it registered any diff then then normal ed.
Update : Bingo... thanks Xanthe
Can't really see how this helps crafters. A lot of MMOs suffer from crafted goods being outright inferior to drops. And in a game where you can switch jobs on the fly and presumably level all "crafts" there wouldn't be much point to bringing the DoH people unless recipes only drop if they're in the roster, which I doubt would happen. But then we go back to finished drops usually being better with a dash of the good recipes having prohibitively expensive materials that make it difficult for the people who can't get the good drops to even afford. Basically, crafts get self-sabotaged on the outset. :/
I don't understand this part. Were you expecting to? DOHs were brought to one event in 1.0: hamlet defense, and only because of its retarded point system. In ARR, crafters and gatherers are relegated to the "not real jobs" status (as they should be) since you can't just advance through the game as a DOH/DOL-only person. I wouldn't expect to play DOH in any real event.
That aside, no, it's not going to help in the way you want it to, it's just something you can probably expect given the nature of the remake. The best you can hope for is rare ingredients and recipes from raids.
I don't believe by that he meant just friends list and titles.Rest assured that your character will be carried over to a new beginning, bearing all your cherished memories of friendships and adventure.

You just quoted a letter posted during the last week of 1.0, where he's clearly talking about 1.0, not beta phase 4.Originally Posted by http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/download/en/FFXIV_2.0_BETA_Roadmap_EN.pdf
Eh, apologies. I looked around for the previous quote but didn't see it so I assumed it was about 1.0 characters. Shouldn't post while sleepy.
I can't be the only one who loved the forced mixture of jp/na ala ffxi can I? I like being able to play with moon people, but I don't like having to be somewhere with almost no na people in order to do so.
Also fffuuuuuu at phase 3 probably being june. I'll be in japan for all of june, so even if I finally get in after all this time of not being in the beta I still won't be able to play. orz.
The key word there is forced. And i suspect that if there were mixed servers, most JPs would probably prefer slicing their dicks off than playing with gaijin motherfuckers. So a mixed server would look something like 30 NAs, 5 canucks, 1 masochist frenchman, and 2 JPs (one is chinese and the other one is retarded).
I liked the mix of people all over the world. Most of my interactions however were from people from English speaking places or like Europe were a ton of people know English anyways.
