I bought the CE and did not get legacy but I'm hardly a mmo hopper as you put it. (Played ffxi for 7 years and wow for 2) I gave up playing 1.x about a month before they started charging because the game was crap and there were other games that interested me more that I was willing to pay for. That's hardly 1 day or even one week. Do I regret not tossing some cash for the legacy benefits? Yea, a bit, but I'm not going to sweat it, but I am exactly the type of player they need to win back (they are so far) as are the friends who started the game with me but left within the first month.
However, if they keep adding benefits to those with legacy status (they are perfectly fine with what they are at), but nothing for those who already purchased the game, particularly the original shitty CE, of course I/we are going to get extremely annoyed.

I played at release and quit after one week. The game was absolutely terrible. Fast forward 18 months and I was back playing post 1.19. Now I'm anxiously waiting the release of ARR.

With that said, I don't think it's exactly wise to dismiss the people who quit after day one. The release was truly that bad and anyone that says otherwise is a delusional fanboy. Even SE themselves admitted the game was bad, hence the complete rebuild of the game. SE needs to please as many day one players who quit as possible without sacrificing the vision and overall quality of the game. On top of all that SE has to prove to everyone who read the reviews and took three steps back that ARR makes FFXIV worth taking a second look at.

It does seem silly not to give early access to everyone who bought the original CE as that was a big perk at the time. I am legacy and really don't see the need to add further legacy benefits. If the only benefit of legacy was the reduced fee I'd still be very happy. They don't need to do anything more. If they keep giving preferential treatment to legacy like that it's going to divide the community and cause other issues.

Apparently there's some misunderstanding or mistranslation going on. They said they'll post official information soon.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. They did say CE owners would get the digital perks of the new CE, and I'd call early access a digital perk.

Bought two CE at launch and quit in the first month. Stopped following the game all together for a long time. Ended up playing again towards the end but missed Legacy barely. Sure I wish I had got legacy but that was a choice I made by not keeping up with the game, don't see why people get butthurt about it it's not like the chance to get Legacy was kept secret from people who werent currently playing the game. Only thing I am mad about is missing the Gobbue mount by like a week.

I was the one who posted the original (corrected from Reinheart) translation in the Beta forums too. Now I'm feeling I shouldn't have.

Then again, maybe the rage would've been worse if the incorrect version of Rein's translation circulated as a fact instead.

Eh? That's not the point. SE is blaming the issue on translation when it is not a translation issue. It's sort of a fallback for them because of the language barrier.

If one of their crew provided the translation then they might have some room to play but they did not, Stan did. Stan/Slycer are so far ahead of SE's Community Team that if they were truly the weaboos they are they'd just fall on their sword for being so pathetic. It's too bad they're American and have no honor.

420+ pages of General Discussion (as compared to the other languages' GD forums) is a huge indication that it doesn't matter lol The shit that gets spewed onto my screen when I go to that forums is utterly ridiculous.

I agree with your point though. But really, they'll bitch about anything and everything y'know.
