I wholeheartedly agree. Apparently English speakers can't moderate themselves at all though which is just so sad. I wish they could exercise some restraint or learn how to use forums because that shit reflects poorly on the community as a whole. At least that's what people start believing anyway.
JP General Discussion - 28 pages.
EN General Discussion - 423 pages.
Don't gimme that crap that "there's more english speakers in that community" because that doesn't make up for having 15x the amount of pages in threads lol
No, it's just empty cans rattling the most as usual. 20 threads for 1 topic, stuff being knocked off page 1 after an hour, etc. It's bad forum moderation on SE's part AND bad forum etiquette on the part of players. They don't know what a search function is and even if they did they'd think their "idea" is important enough to warrant its own brand new thread anyway. I mean, have you read some of this crap?? Come on bro.

^I could swear I've seen atleast 10 threads about how legacy will destroy XIV
I firmly agree with Lucavi that people are people, no matter where you go.
However (>x_x) for some reason, XIV has attracted a disproportionate number of malcontents and special snowflakes to their English forums, who make up for with quantity what they lack in quality. Not sure why they are not more heavily moderated... but it's very irritating to constantly wade through the muck of english General Discussion.
I don't go there often, I try to make good posts, but I find myself angered at the very much misplaced egotism of the posters there.
I end up becoming frustrated and it shows in my posts easily. I can't stand smugness. >_< It infuriates me.
Smugness from ignorant 'net denizens is even worse.
EDIT: And aye, Legacy, pets, jumping, infinite ammunition, zone lines, PVP, instances, XP dungeons, lack of sliders, full beards, lalafell racks a la Lulu/FFX, and tiered progression systems are going to destroy XIV. Dozen threads apiece per subject.
The real question at this point is what isn't going to destroy XIV.
American kids are now made up a large part of entitled d-bags. Some of those d-bags now have the presumed ability to steer the game into the game THEY would make with all the super cool shit and none of what they feel is BS. They yell and moan in the most dramatic way possible..which on forums is calling stuff they dont like the end of the world and anyone who does not agree with them are communist nazi child molesters or something.
Also, beards do not destroy.. they create..with a manly manliness that fuels such icons as Chuck Norris, the Dos Equis guy, and ZZ Top.
My experience on the beta forums is:
A) Go to Beta forum
B) Look at Dev Tracker on bottom right
C) Read new Dev posts
D) /logout
It is nearly as bad as the D3 forums after the initial launch issues (nothing ever was as bad as those forums in the week or so after launch).
Exactly the same thing I do except I keep myself logged in on my phone so I can just quickly glance and see if anything new then close it.
This is your "Superior Final Fantasy Community" at work, not mine. I know how absurd they are, its just that I don't care because they were the same way in XI whilst everyone else was declaring that WoW's community was somehow oh-so-worse than XI's simply by virtue of XI players playing XI instead of WoW.
It used to be amusing to me, but, like so many other things as one grows up, I just don't have the time to care anymore. I read the dev posts and move onto another site.
It still amuses me how the ramblings of the official forum of a game define it's community. Moreover it amuses me how the opinions people hold, no matter how retarded they are, count in-game.
It's how people act that counts, not what they say. XI forced people to act nice - ARR most likely doesn't. There goes the 'nice community'. Of course the trade-off is worth it.
The XI players are the ones who set that standard. WoW players didn't give a shit; they were too busy raiding, pvping, and complaining to Ghostcrawler about everything and nothing. You can't have it both ways.
Also, there were no official forums back then in regards to SE, otherwise this utter tripe would have been exposed far sooner. It has less to do with the game and more to do with those who play the game than you think.
FFXI's community has always been shitty but there were less subscribers to begin with so it wasn't that obvious to some. And you had to deal with the BS anyway to get through the game or you were simply wasting your time.
Here's my interpretation of my experience on the beta forums:
A) Go to Beta forums
B) Shit wtf did I just do?
C)Run CMD
D)taskkill /F chrome.exe
